Measurements are stated in inches unless otherwise indicated. Size chart values represent body measurements, not garment measurements. Some women's pants are available in petite and tall sizes. Typically petite sizes fit women 4'11" to 5'3". Regular sizes fit women 5'4" to 5'8". Tall sizes fit women 5'9" to 5'11".
PETITE: Generally, as compared to regular sizes, petite sizes are 2.5 inches shorter in inseam, 1 inch shorter in body length, 1.25 inches shorter in sleeve length and ¾ inch shorter in total rise.
TALL: tall sizes are 3 inches longer in inseam, 2 inches longer in body length, 2.5 inches longer in sleeve length and 1.25 inches longer in total rise.
Capri or cropped pants have an intentionally shorter inseam—reference the technical specs instead of this chart.
Inseam is measured to the floor.

REI finally learned how to make pants for women with butts. I bought these expecting I'd have to return them, because REI pants have never fit me, but these were the most affordable lined water-resistant hiking pants I could find. The fit is loose-casual. Decent pockets, for women's clothing. The waist feels a little loose but it has a drawstring to make sure they stay up. The shell feels durable. The lining is very soft. These are great for walking the dogs or hiking when temperatures are in the 30's and 40's. I'll be ordering another pair - please add more colors, REI! Bought a size 16. I'm 5'5" and 210lbs, with 46" hip measurement. Perfect fit.
I usually wear a size 14 (5’6 180lbs) and I got these in that size. They fit in the waist comfortably, maybe a little snug when sitting, but the knees! I could not walk in these around the house because I could barely bend my knee. When lifting my leg at the knee, the thigh would constrict in the front and essentially pull them down after a few steps. The liner was very cozy but definitely feels like you’re wearing two pairs of pants as the fleece layer and outer pant fabric have some shifting to them, they’re not well bonded together. For the price I would have liked a little more thoughtfulness in the construction. I’ll either size up or outright return.
I wanted a warmer active hiking pant and this looked like a good option. It is well made and very comfortable. Although the description said "lined", I expect it to be a soft lining as part of the fabric and not separate from the pant. I found that the lining seemed to cling to my body which felt odd and I found that just walking around it would cause the pant to bunch slightly above my rear and below the waist. Perhaps a larger size would have worked better. I usually take a "0" in REI brand and this did feel like it fit correctly. If it didn't feel and look a bit odd on the backside, they would have been keepers.
The cut of the fabric is made for a very curvy person, one with a pear shape or wide hips. There’s like 3” of excess fabric on the very top of the seat of the pants, just below the waist, folding down like a ridge. I was hoping to take these to a month long winter snowboard trip to Japan where we’ll be in temp ranges for 20f and below to potentially 60f in cities, but I would feel too conscious to shed any layer that hides this unsightly, unflattering excess fabric. I’m likely only going to bring athleta lined Brooklyn pants, which are not as warm. I will have to check out Mountain Hardwear Yumalina lined pants. My waist is 29” and hips are 37” and size 4 is comfortable but horribly frumpy. If you’re in the woods and 100% do not care what you look like, then these are for you.
I like the pants and how they fit but I think their versatility is limited. I love the pockets - there is a zippered pocket and the two other pockets are big enough to comfortably hold an iPhone. The waist fits wonderfully well - it does not gape when I sit down because the back is elasticized and there is an internal drawstring. The pants are lined in a fleece-like material that is very soft, which is a nice feature for colder temps but also makes the pants look a bit baggy when worn. These pants are nice for fall/cold temperatures lounging around when camping. I would not hike in them and probably won't wear them around town until the middle of winter.
These are not just a lined version of the sahara pant. The sahara pant has pockets on the sides of the legs and 2 back pockets. They are fully functional for outdoor and can carry a cell phone for example. THESE CAN NOT. These have only one zippered back pocket - not appropriate for a phone and a tiny zippered pocket inside one of the two side hand pockets. The lining feels great but these are not a functional cold weather substitute for Sahara. If I had known this before buying - I would not have bought.
These pants do not fit me in any size. They are definitely designed for a pear shaped figure with a tiny waist. I am apple shaped with narrow hips. The waist is very tight and the hips balloon out on the sides with lots of excess fabric. I think if the waist was more stretchy (i.e. all elastic) I could have gone down two sizes to get the legs/hips to fit.
I loved how soft and warm these lined pants are. They are great for colder hikes and walking my dog when it is raining or chilly. I appreciated the nice elastic stretch waistband and love the hidden zip pocket in front, good-sized pockets in the front, and back zip pocket. It's nice when manufacturers include good-sized and secure pockets in women's pants. My only cons are that these size 10 pants are too long for my short 5'2" frame so I wish they came in a petite size. The size 10 pants fit my 5'10" friend very well and were perfect in length. Also, these pants are slightly bulky due to the inner soft lining. Overall, these pants are cozy and warm!
Another great REI brand pant. My parents bought these for me for work. The fleece lining will keep me warm in my office this winter without being bulky. There needs to be a petit size so my mom can wear them too.
I give these pants an overall 4.5 stars. I’d give them a 5 if there were more pockets. I found these pants to be comfortable, easy to move around in, and best of all, warm!! These pants have a more elastic waistband than other pants I’ve tried, which make them great for bending, sitting, and reaching. There are two open hip pockets, and one zippered pocket at the hip, and one zippered pocket on the rear. The open hip pockets are not very big, and gap open a bit when hiking. I was a little reluctant to put anything valuable in those pockets. The zippered pockets felt secure though. There are no pockets on the thigh/knee area. I think the pants could be improved by adding more secure pockets. When hiking the zippered pockets were easy to access, but when kayaking the two zippered pockets were in places that were very difficult to reach. Having a zip pocket at the thigh would have been perfect. The inside of the pants is warm fleece material, which really helped keep my legs warm during activities. The hip pockets are lined with the same material. The fleece material is also extremely soft, which made them all the more comfortable to wear. I wore these pants on a cold water kayak trip and they performed amazing! Water quickly beaded and rolled off the pants, helping to keep me dry and warm. When the pants did get wet, they dried very quickly. These pants are a great addition if you need versatile pants for cool/cold weather activities. I’d like to see more zippered pockets, but I highly recommend these pants.
