Great all weather jacket
Got this jacket at the start of the season, it's been very wet in the PNW, and it's so far been warm, waterproof, visible, and roomy enough to add extra layers for those extra cold days. I got a size M and I'm 6'2 220lbs, and it still runs a bit puffy, but there is a hem drawcord to bring the bottom of the jacket in. My only complaint is that the thumb holes in the cuff need to be a bit further out. My arms aren't exceptionally long, and any reaching down really strains the thumb hole. Definitely not a deal breaker, just means you've gotta bend a little more to futz with the boots or bindings. Oh and I've had exactly 0 issues with the zipper.
Good Insulation and Water Resistance, Troubled Features
As a shell it does the job. My issues lie in the features. The zippers might be the worst I've ever experienced. The main zipper constantly snags and if not fully zipped will poke you in the neck. The internal chest pocket zipper became "locked" shut and after 15 minutes of fussing at home the only option was to rip the zipper and stitch a new one in by hand. I've used this jacket for 2.5 years and it has done its job in the most basic sense, BUT for the price (acquired this jacket on sale) I honestly can't recommend it due to the frustrations I've dealt with. Pros: Warm, dry, durable (thus 3 stars) Cons: Zippers do not operate smoothly whatsoever, price
Great shell, relaxed fit, but faulty draw strings
Wore this skiing and snowshoeing Mt. Baker in cold weather, heavy winds, and deep snow. Even against PNW rain, drizzle, and mist this jacket kept me dry. On the mountain in strong winds and heavy snow i was warm and windproof. Basic features are enough relaxed fit, large fleece lined pockets, hood draw string in back. DRAW STRINGS ON THE SIDE OF HOOD DO NOT WORK. they pull down and there is piece inside the hood with a button so i assume the draw strings are supposed to say tight until you press the internal button but the strings just slide freely back and forth (this could be a manufacturing defect i doubt user error as ive tried every which way). otherwise the jacket works as expected
Disappointed in durability
It fits nice and is very warm. Not very durable. Took it out as soon as I got it for a hike. First (and only) fall, the sleeve ripped pretty bad. Needs a patch to keep it usable. Disappointed in the durability for the price. Have had other coats from different brands that have gone through a lot worse and have held up. OR would send a black patch to keep it usable, but still not the same.
Lightweight but extremely warm.
I just took the dog on a long walk in -5 windshield air. I felt no wind or cold where I could get coverage from the coat. Earlier in the week it was a bit warmer and I wore the coat to shovel. I broke a sweat wearing the coat. I am very happy with the purchase. The only small complaints would be that the zipper is difficult at times, I probably should have gotten a large (5'10", 210) as I may be a little to short for it, and the hood is designed to fit over a helmet so it's a little awkward with just a stocking cap. I imagine it would be fantastic for winter sports that require a helmet.

I would buy this product again.
This product came on time and the fit was a little large, however if you need to layer items under it then you have the room. The rear flap is great for keeping snow off your backside when you fall, and the inside pocket for the ski goggle worked out great. I took this jacket skiing in temperatures from 20 degrees to about 30 degrees and all I need was a polyester t-shirt underneath. I even wore this while snowmobiling and it keep me warm and dry. The only negative was the main zipper is a little finicky at first, once I had used it a few times that seemed to correct itself.
Great Jacket for Big Guys
First let me say I'm 6'4", 300 lbs and the 3XL fit me perfect. When you are built like a professional football lineman it's hard to find high quality, comfortable, reliable and dependable athletic clothes to fit you. Especially with regards to snow sports. Most companies do not make big and tall jackets and most sizes stop at 2XL. Outdoor Research has hit a home run with this jacket. They hit it out the park. I can only ask that they continue to make 3XL sizes for those of us larger in stature athletes and weekend Wwarriors with dad bods. I wore this jacket in Snowmass. Co. I was there for 7 days. I wore it on the mountain in 25° to 35° weather and had no issues or problems the jacket. It was warm, versatile and kept me dry I and I snowboarded with the pit zips open most of the time. I also wore the jacket casually in the village for lunch and dinner. I've been snowboarding for approximately 20 years and have worn a variety of jackets from various manufacturers. I must say that this jacket is extremely & very highly recommended if you are a big guy you will not be disappointed. You will actually be very appreciative of the quality of this jacket as well as the technical features. OR has this jacket dialed in.
Went with OR because of previous experience with their products in the military, and purchased this for winter sports up in North Lake Tahoe. Was worn for snowboarding, snowshoeing and cross country skiing. Never got too hot or too cold in it, keeps the wind off of you, and the internal waistband stays in place and keeps the snow, ice, and cold away from your core incredibly well. Water resistance is excellent, Holds up well to abrasion from equipment, and fits true to size. 6'4" tall and 200lbs, long arms and skinny frame, a large fit me perfectly.

Great Jacket, Poorest Zipper
I paid how much to get a jacket that has a failure on the part I use the most? Amazed. OR makes an amazing product, insulation is warm and thin, the sleeves are awesome dimensionally, and overall jacket size fits great, but the zipper is insanely hard to track together. I have never desired to have a jacket unzip at the bottom, full Cholo style. Maybe your steezy bro/brahs at the TP, but not here. I knew full well buying this from reading the previous zipper reviews. It's still a 90% good jacket. Bought a size Large and I am 6' 0" and 235 lbs.
