I wish I could give this jacket a better rating. I really do. It’s extremely comfortable. The fit is perfect. And the style is amazing. But I recently purchased the jacket in the golden brown colorway. Which is honestly such a cool color! But buyer be warned. Because of the material you better only purchase this color in black. Or at least never let it come in contact with anything other than air. After the first time it got wet from a slight fall drizzle it left weird stains all over it. And then after about a month of wearing it every crease of the patterns on the sleeves has become stained dark and won’t come out. And don’t even get me started about the neck and under arm areas. I’m super disappointed in it honestly. Luckily enough I was able to purchase it from a different website for a discounted price. So I’m not out a horrible amount of money. But for a company with a reputable standard in outdoor gear I am extremely disappointed. I wish I got it in a different color. But I didn’t. And now I don’t know if I will get the jacket again in a darker color.
I got this on sale for $40 (discontinued color "washed raisin") at a Columbia outlet store and it's the best jacket I've ever owned by far. So dang comfortable, feels like I'm wearing a cloud. It's a "heavy" winter down jacket, not light like the MH ghost whisperer. Keeps me warm down to about 20 degrees. Appears windproof. The stretchiness makes it so awesome and comfortable. My heavy synthetic jacket is the Arcteryx Atom AR and this stretchdown puts that jacket to shame! So much more comfortable, and a little bit warmer too I believe. I don't even wear that Arcteryx Jacket anymore unless it's raining or really humid. I've washed it twice and both times it came out fine, I dried it with tennis balls to help break up the clumps of down
My favorite jacket I’ve ever owned. It’s so soft and warm. To give you an idea of the sizing - if there existed a size between medium and large, that would be me. But for this jacket I went with a large and it fits perfect with enough room for a sweater underneath. I liked this jacket so much I picked up a 2nd one on sale, so now I own 2. I highly recommend this P.s. I wouldn’t wear this in heavy snow or rain. There’s no shell to it so it will just absorb the water or snow. That being said, I’m perfectly fine with that because the trade off is a comfortable, ‘easy to move in’ jacket. It’s also very durable for being so soft.
As another reviewer stated "I wore this once in light rain and now it has dark staining that doesn't go away after drying" - the same thing happened to me when I wore it skiing. I can't recommend a jacket that can't be worn outside if there is a slight mist or snowflakes in the air otherwise the jacket gets permanently stained.
Brand new and shedding feathers out of every stitch intersection. This is a joke for the money. I feathers all over my house, my car. This is unacceptable for the price point.
Perfect jacket for every day winter wear. It's probably a little on the delicate side for tough trail use and would see some tears, but it is excellent for daily wear around town, mild hikes, etc. Fits trim towards the slimmer side (5'8" x 140, athletic/slim build), and compliments my body rather than bulge out around the mid section like many puffy jackets. The drawstrings for the waist hem work smoothly, as do the ones for the hood. Warm down into the teens for casual wear around a city with just a long sleeve shirt underneath. A fleece or outer shell would provide plenty of warmth for almost any weather I'd encounter in Massachusetts.
The bottom adjustable elastic ends inside the packet. The metallic ring around the elastic inside the packet breaks easily, damaging the interior fabric.
Loved the coat. Problem is the seams leak feathers after a year. Not repairable so be ready to buy another after a year or so.
Purchased this jacket, the colour is completely off from what is advertised on the website.
The fit over my back packing layering system was spot on, plus sleeve length & hem line length were perfect for me (slightly long). Was comfortable at 35 degrees with tee and flannel under it walking around town. Comfortable on my skin and seems more durable than others I was looking at for a puffy. Can open from the bottom if wearing with a backpack. Negatives are the front hood tightening strings are a bit wonky and the cuffs seem just the right tightness but bunched up and slightly uncomfortable with hours of use. 5'-10", 155 LBS, 54 years young. I will be using this for hiking and casual outings in town.
