State of the art - I'm Impressed!

Comfort. Fit. Function. I can't believe how soft these are. Normally I must wash anything next to my skin, but I've worn these several times and haven't needed to wash them yet. This base layer allows freedom of movement while just snug enough to easily fit under a variety of bottoms. I'm 5ft 11in, 185 and wear 32x32 pants. The medium was perfect for me and would be great for taller guys - there's probably another 3 or 4 inches of length. The waistband made layering easy - I don't know how they did that. No fly leads to less complication and less weight = thank you! The slash pocket is great for a garage remote, keys, or a couple of ID cards but would NOT fit my smaller smartphone. I've been gravitating toward black bottoms, but the green color looks great. The contrasting pocket color stands out but it stays out of the way if you don't need it. I wore this with gym shorts out for a jog in brisk weather and the pocket access was perfect. I went on a short hike with lightweight tech hiking pants that fit snug on my thighs; not great in 30deg weather. Combine this with more loose fitting long pants and you get surprising warmth. I wore under a pair of straight-cut denim jeans (slightly loose through the leg) while clearing autumn leaves and again while shoveling snow in 20deg weather; this kept me much warmer than usual and I didn't have that redness on my skin afterward. Nice work, Arc'teryx Team!

Super comfortable fit and nice stretch!

Out of the box, these are top notch, soft to the feel, seams placed out of the way so no chafing, warm and they are in between the fit of joggers and actual tights - see pics attached. I used them first time out for hiking on the trail, where it was low 40's temperature. I know they are made to be used as a base layer, but there will not be any snow in Maryland until the winter. For sure then I am looking forward to placing them underneath as a base layer for snow sports. I will also plan on running in them when the temperatures dip below freezing. There is one pocket on the right outer thigh, was hoping this would be large enough for a cell phone, but its only good for a few credit cards/ID and cash, maybe a car key and chapstick or a granola bar and energy gel. I own a size small

Supple base layer but good for cool activity too

Great cool to cold weather product for outside activities. The muted color of the bottoms I got are fine. but as a color-blind guy, this is not my strong suit. The fabric is extremely soft and stretchy – making for a very comfortable fit for all positions. They compare well in comfort and fell with merino wool base layers of similar weights. I got the medium size as I have a 32-33” waist and was concerned that the length would be too short for my 34” inseam. However, the fit is perfect. I think that has something to do with the stretch of the fabric. Though they fit comfortably from my waist to my ankles they would likely accommodate various inseam lengths. I have only used them for long walks and single-track bike rides so far and find them perfect for cool, not cold, days. I look forward to using them as underlayers beneath shells or insulated pants for biking and skiing once snow arrives here. I will consider getting an upper base layer to replace some of my older items.

Extra warmth for low exertion activities

The Arc'teryx Rho LT base layer bottoms are advertised as "lightweight" but I would call them more "medium" weight. This is an ideal thermal base layer for (a) low exertion activities in cold temps or (b) folks who get cold easily like me! The Rho LT bottoms use Arc'teryx's super soft Torrent™ fabric, which is lightly brushed on the inside (for increased warmth and moisture transfer) and smooth on the outside (for no friction or chafing when worn under other clothing - even jeans!) The fit is perfect for those of us with biker legs (i.e. trunks!) and the length of these size Large bottoms was perfect on my 6' frame. The pants are (mostly) form fitting and stretch easily with movement, but never feel too constrictive or like they might fall off – I suspect the articulated patterning and gusseted crotch are responsible for this freedom of movement. The waistband is flat and comfortable, so there's no bulkiness at the waist when layering. THere's also a SMALL thigh pocket where you could stash keys or a small phone, but honestly I can't see myself ever using it (it's awkward to reach under your outer layers to dig something out of a thigh pocket.) The color I got is "Pytheas" and it's a subtle mixture of dark green and turquoise. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND these to anyone.

Cozy Athletic Base Layer

This is a great base layer. It feels so soft and smooth. I also stayed comfortable after getting dressed before heading out into the cold, but was plenty warm and comfortable while active in below freezing temps. A great layer for snowshoeing, winter hiking, etc. The side pocket is great for keys or a small wallet.

Comfortable and warm

So, I received these guys and at first I was not really sure what the idea or intended use is, they have the little outside pocket and they fit and feel almost like a tight for climbing or biking. I went to the manufactures website then I was like oh yeah, base layer. The first time I wore them, I did wear them just as tights, went for a walk with my dogs it was in the 30's (F) and id say my legs were cool, not warm not cold but comfortable. As fate would happen, temperatures dipped, and we started to receive snow here in Southcentral Alaska. So I started wearing them as their intended use, a base layer under what I wear as shell pants. In 20's with moderate activity like walking at a decent pace they are pretty darn warm, almost too warm for me and my comfort, teens are a bit more comfortable although thats me and I run warm. Below that I would add a layer, mind you these are a little bulkier than any base layer i've ever worn but I typically wear wool. These would be great for moderate temps riding the lifts, in colder temps teens and below if you are doing more active pace like saying skinning up to get some turns or fat tire biking they would be great as a single layer. They do have a soft feel next to your skin and are pretty breathable, I like the cut, fit and feel. Im 5'8 and got a large but they are a tad long i'm sure I could do a medium. The longer I own them the more I think situations or uses, these would be great for a climbing trip where your hanging in the tent, stow a lighter in the pocket. Or Hut trips, you've skied all day shed the shells and boots and now just want something to brew up some hot water in. All and all a versatile and solid product.

Very poor fit and design for new updated model

Newly updated model has very poor fit and design comparing to prior models that had such a great feet. New model has very high waist line that has a thicker band that is very uncomfortable positioned so high above the waistline. The overall length in size M, is 2.5" longer comparing to prior model that creates multiple wrinkles and would result in hot spots in the ski boots. I am 6'1" and I only see this product fit properly for someone who is way taller that I am, to compensate for 2.5" in wrinkles. Very disappointed. Arcteryx stop changing sizes. I used your products for 20 year and this one is the biggest disappointment.

revised product is a "no-go" - you'll regret it

Rho-LT from last season were great but was only able to get 1 pair. Tried this new season style and they are bad. The fit, fabric, and design has changed significantly. The waist band is now thick and gathers creating friction between your skin and an outer layer which equals discomfort. Fabric is thicker and does not conform as well to body shape. Would definitely NOT recommend these as a base layer.

Perfect base layer and moves with you.

The RHO LT Bottom is the perfect base layer for the Fall and Winter. Snug, warm, soft and stretchy material cut to move with your body. And even though nobody will see them, they look cool, like scuba pants. I wear them underneath my Gamma LT Pants (Large) and I've been toasty warm down to -10C so far. I'm 6'1 and a bit, around 200 lbs with a 37" waist and the Large is a perfect fit.
