I really like this jacket except that it fits a bit too tightly. My size guidelines should have been great for an XL, and I even reviewed them again after wearing it a few times to make sure I did not make a mistake and get the wrong size. My advice is get the size larger than it says. I also don't care for the fact that there are no tall sizes (I'm 6'4), but I have given up raising my arms above my head because no good jacket company has tall sizes anymore. Noone wants to see my hairy belly. All of that being said, it's a great jacket- very comfortable and perfect for rain, wind, and cooler temps.
I absolutely love this jacket. I have worn it in temps from zero degrees up to 50 degrees. Now from 0-30 I am wearing a wool or fleece mid layer. The jacket feels windproof and that is great here in Nebraska. I do not recommend this for any activity that would be high energy since it doesn't breathe. The hand pockets are large and zippered, but I do wish it had a zippered check pocket.
Looks great, feels great, blocks wind very well. Not sure it would work in temps below 40 degrees though. I'd prefer my down jacket with a cozy beanie and scarf. Haven't been in rain or even sprinkles yet but I think it would a be OK. Nice fit. Wish more colors were offered by REI. Biggest downer: for the price, why not an inside pocket? The one on the shoulder barely will hold a key ring, and is awkward to get to.
Sub-par functionality for the price. This garment succeeds in being lightweight & offering extremely basic wind & rain resistance. The insulation is not warm & the garment has poor wind blocking properties. The insulation layer is installed behind the hand warmer pockets making them pointless for actually warming your hands. I like the $30 fleeced softshell I got at cost co better than this, comparing features straight across. I own many Kuhl products but this is one of the few I’m not keeping.
This is a windbreaker style jacket/hoody that has a felt like material on the inside. There is a blue felt interior on the inside of the back portion and black in the hood and arms. I have the hoody version and the hood sits proper on the head and there is felt on the inside of the hood as well. The felt is soft and I feel like this jacket/hoody can manage fall/spring and some basic winter type activities as long as you are not out for a long time. I don't know why it is so hard to get a proper description or images from anyone on this, but that is about as specific as you can get.
I purchased this product t 2 years ago without the hood. It was less warm. This version is superior.
I ordered "Steel Blue". The shades of blue are very different than depicted. The blues are very gray in color. I don't think that this is REI's fault since they are using a stock photo from Kuhl.
Really an amazing jacket. Keeps you warm, sheds water and is still breathable.
Very nice product. Fits perfectly and great quality
Really nice light jacket. Easily packable in the bottom of a daypack when out and about. I would not rate this as a warm jacket, per se, but it works for me anything above 60 degrees and it serves as a windbreaker and a layer even in lower temperatures. I am 5' 8" 158 lbs with athletic build and this fits well without much room to spare, which is the way I like it. I have many Kuhl clothing items, all great quality, and this is no exception.
