Great fit, perfect for not-super-cold winters

This has become my main jacket for winter days where it's about 40 degrees or if I know I'm being active (bike commuting, brisk walking), it'll keep me warm down to even 20 degrees. If it's not super cold, you don't want something that's too warm, so I actually prefer this over the down model which I assume provides greater warmth. In terms of fit, I'm not sure why other reviewers are claiming it runs small. I normally wear medium and it fits me just right; it is a bit on the slimmer side of medium but not significantly so. If you're used to wearing slim fit clothing, your normal size will probably fit just right. If you're used to a more baggy/boxy fit, you might want to size up. I have a super long torso so I appreciate the jacket being a bit longer than jackets from other brands.

Comically Bad Sizing

I ordered a men's Large, when I normally wear a medium, due to the comments about the jacket running small. When it arrived it was so tiny! There was at least 4 inches to go before I could close the zipper. The sleeves were short, well above my wrist bones. The shoulders were narrow and the armpit area so tight it looked like I might rip it just trying it on. The sizing is so bizarrely small and ill fitting that I could easily be convinced that they sent a women's medium instead of a men's large. This jacket is also much more of a heavy winter weather jacket than a midweight layer.

Shame it's being discontinued - this jacket rocks

Apparently this model is being discontinued but if anyone is looking at a discount or used version in the future you won't be disappointed if you get this. I wore this over a nice fleece jacket all over Iceland in late September and through subzero temperatures in California and couldn't have asked for more. It can stand light rain without getting soaked and has pockets every which way to keep your items secure and hands warm. The hood is nice and snug too and keeps your head as warm as a hat. I bought the green color and it looks super stylish. It's my go-to jacket now when it gets chilly. TLDR; I spent a lot of time reading reviews that nitpicked all the different ways to critique a high end puffy jacket and settled on this one - if you buy this, you won't be disappointed.

Nice Jacket, just runs small.

I was a little curious why the unhood version has better reviews but after reading it seems the only complaint is that it runs small. And it’s true. I usually buy my jackets in L but I had to buy this one in XL. My suggestion is just to size up by one size.

Not the greatest hoodie

Insulation material is clumping at elbow area, leaving areas with no padding. Similar, along the stiches the padding is missing, making for poor insulation. Not insulating properly. Overall, not warmer than a regular shirt.

Bad Zipper and Noisy Hood

Has double zipper but is difficult to zip. It hooks on the opposite side of what you are used to. Unzipping is a nightmare. More than once, had to pull over my head. While the zipper might be learned, the noisy hood cannot be fixed. It very noisy. Cannot imagine anyone using it for hiking as it would drive you nuts. I'll likely return it. On the upside, it's light and warm.

seems “expedition” worthy so far!

Just received this jacket, only used it for a day or so at the river. Kept me warm after dark, brushed through/got lightly caught on sticker-bushes multiple times with minimal regard for fabric fragility and I don’t see any holes. That’s amazing for a puffy. Looks as stylish and puffy the more expensive down version, but I prefer synthetic. I LOVE the fabric is NOT SHINY nor wrinkly. This fully embraces the retro “low tech” look while using capable & modern insulation tech. Happy to have this. Doesn’t pack QUITE as small or light as I hoped, though still impressive for synthetic. I believe the durability more than makes up for this. I added a ribbon to the main zip for easier handling. Nice snug hood, pretty color (dandelion). I would not pay MSRP for this, but at 50% off, it’s perfect. Sheds splashes of water easily. IMO this is perfect for rainy mild climates (PNW) where the Expedition Down line is honestly overkill. Typically Fjallraven coats are oversized for me so I size down to XS, but this I bought my usual S size and it’s perfect as a warm outer layer. I hope this lasts as long as my other Fjallraven gear… I’ll be set for life and look/feel good at all ages, haha.

Very disappointed!!!

Ordered a XXL fit like a small. The jacket is good looking and Great quality, all for not if you can wear it and zip it up. I was a little suspect ordering this jacket after reading the sizing reviews. Buyer beware. Sizing is awful. Very disappointed love the jacket style and color. I usually order XXL and have plenty of room. Too bad, I really like the jacket color and quality :(
