Awesome size, material and function

I've used this for both single backpacking trips when I've had gear I needed to secure inside my tent as opposed to under the vestibules. With another person this tent is still roomy for two with some personal gear for each person. My longest backpacking with this setup has been 15 miles and with a couple of thousand feet of elevation. As a photographer and videographer I obviously have to know the cumulative weight is gonna catch up with me... But as a car camping tent and/or short weekend backpacking this is a great tent. My only con... well the weight. Yes, I use to make fun of peeps that counted grams... I guess I have egg on my face now...lol

Falling apart in first backpacking trip

I never leave reviews, but I was so sad with the quality of this tent (not to mention I couldn’t return it because I bought it from the outlet) that I had to speak up. First, the tent is heavy for a backpacking tent. I thought “oh well,” and went on with trying it out. The bag ripped along the seems while strapped to the backpack. It continued to rip in several places during the 4 nights out. The tent also has too many unnecessary parts for a backpacking tent, including a piece that will catch you in the back constantly as you exit the tent. Overall, disappointed rei would sell such a product.

Durable, good design

I used this every night for a three-month bike tour and in addition to many dozens of nights backpacking, car camping, motorcycle camping, and festival going. It's going strong. It's relatively heavy for backpacking, but it has plenty of space for two people and their gear. It's got enough pockets for two people's stuff. It's easy to ventilate the fly for a cross breeze if it's hot out, or on warm nights I don't put the fly on at all (the ceiling is all mesh, nice for stargazing). I have survived serious downpours and the whipping winds 40+ mph of Wyoming, Kansas, and Patagonia in mine. The tent pole clips are quicker to set up and take down than tents with pole sleeves. It's a good durable tent.

Good value for the price and well made

First use was on a 7 day bicycle camping tour, fully supported (i.e., van carried tent gear); therefore, on this trip weight wasn’t a drawback compared to pricier 2-person light-weight tents. I needed an easy to assemble, free-standing tent with room for me and my gear inside. The Chaos 2 surpassed all expectations! Price includes stow bags, poles, mesh gear loft, stakes and guy lines. A matching Alps footprint is sold separately. It appears it will last, no quality issues as far as I’m concerned.

Awesome tent

Set up is really nice, I stake it, lay out the poles, and then insert the four corners. It’s a breeze after that just clip the tent to the structure. I really like the space between the tent and the canopy. I used this 2 person tent solo. In my opinion it folds up a little larger than I’d like for backpacking use but I think it’s really cool and function is perfect for me.

Perfect size, easy to pack, great weight.

Used this for me and my wife. Will be keeping this tent and using it for trips going forward. It has a great weight for a two-person. The mesh top will be amazing in the summer under the night sky. The footprint (sold separately) and rain fly are use to assemble and clip together. Free standing makes assembly a breeze. Get this tent!

good tent

I got this to replace my msr hubba hubba 2 2022 edition, it was to much an missed alot of little stuff. I got this which is heavier almost 3x but for the savings an it does everything the msr does worth it.It has the pockets an the mesh overhang piece (msr didn't kinda upset bout that) an little pockets. Pockets everywhere, also it pitches with rainfly an ground sheet or floor protector as Alps mountaineering calls it lol. so it literally does everything the hubba hubba does but is heavier. I've adjusted my pack for the weight an now I'm doing everything plus!! would definitely recommend. I'm 6'2in an 180ish lbs I solo this tent with my dog. but normally just me an my gear an lots of extra space. it would be 5 stars if they could get it to a 3 lbs for the whole tent.

Good camping tent & good value.

I bought this tent last year. I have used on a few car camping trips. It is good quality. No problems with the tent at all. Very easy to set-up. Sturdy in the wind. So far, I have not had to camp in the rain, but I am sure it will be fine. It breathes well if you keep the rain fly pulled back and open. If you close it down, (we did have a lot of ocean mist one night), you get a fair amount of condensation, which is normal for small tents. Only issue is the weight. But a lighter tent is much more expensive. It is a two person tent, with plenty of room for two normal size people. The double vestibule (on both sides) will keep your gear dry. If two people share carrying it on a backpack trip, then it is not too heavy. But for solo, you might think twice.

Great for car camping!

Took this tent camping with a buddy of mine. He had a truck so the weight wasn't an issue and since we had separate tents, space wasn't an issue either. As this is a 2-person tent, there's plenty of space for one person. There's enough verticality for a 5'7" guy to sit comfortably inside. Set-up was easy - I bought the separate footprint so that went first. Even without instructions it's doable too; probably took under 5 minutes total. The included stakes are a bit crummy though - thin aluminum ones which is probably fine if you're staking in softer ground but I brought steel stakes to replace them anyway since the ground was harder. Quality is good, feels like equipment you don't really have to baby. The 'awning' area provided enough space to store your bag, boots, etc. if you don't want to bring them into the tent. Rained overnight; didn't notice any leaks or much condensation either.

so far, so good

Bought this to use on dispersed camping trips, as the car is not a comfy squeeze for two. This thing has SPACE. Love the double doors/vestibule. The only thing I don’t like is the pole design. And it’s difficult to get the rain pole in the fly. Otherwise it’s been great so far!
