Sizing Notes

Measurements are stated in inches unless otherwise indicated. Size chart values represent body measurements, not garment measurements.

SHORT: Some pants are available in short sizes, which generally means an inseam that is 2.5 inches shorter than regular sizes.

TALL: Some pants, shirts, jackets and parkas are available in tall sizes, which generally means an inseam that is 3 inches longer and a rise that is 1 inch longer, a shirt or jacket body that is 2 inches longer, a parka body that is 2.5 inches longer and sleeves that are 2.5 inches longer than regular sizes.

Capri or cropped pants have an intentionally shorter inseam—reference the technical specs instead of this chart.

Inseam is measured to the floor.

Great balance of features, snug in some areas
Received free product
Should be warm but not too warm. I wanted these for snowboarding and sledding. My family enjoys spring snow. Normally I use long underwear and shell pants with a thin shell jacket. I’d only need shorts under these guys. For cold winter days a light long underwear would be all I’d need. The fit is true to size in a modern way, I guess. I’m 5ft 11in, 185lbs; I wear a 32x32 pant, so I ordered a medium. The bibs are slim through the torso and are quite snug around by big belly. Maybe I have a tall torso because with the suspender straps at the longest setting, the crotch is more snug than I like to wear my pants. Although closer than I prefer, it’s not too tight and enables a lot of movement. I think I can get used to that part. I have thick thighs and can’t stand the squeeze of skinny jeans – these have just enough room! Below the knees are quite baggy, and should easily fit over any snowboard or ski boot. They are a bit long, but that’s good for a boarder. Thoughtful features make it adjustable and ventable. I love that they skipped on cargo pockets - save the weight with less seams for better waterproofing! The zippered side pockets are in the right spot and just the right size to stow my wallet, keys, and sunscreen lip balm. The chest pocket will fit most cell phones. During most tumbles and falls, the pocket placement should keep my phone from getting smashed and keep me from extra bruising from keys or other hard stuff in my pockets. For that all-important keep-my-seat-dry springtime when strapping my board in after getting off the lift, the REI Peak 2L with DWR finish should hold up well, I hope. Although the fit is a bit different than I'm used to, I think REI got the right balance of features, style, maneuverability, waterproofness, and light weight with these bibs.

No frills, gets the job done

5 stars because you cant beat them for the price. Have used them in brutal cold and warm/wet. Kept me warm and dry either way. Pair with a thin base layer for colder days. Vents in the crotch cool you down quickly on the lift for warmer days. Fit is a little weird, tight in the crotch, but fits perfect in the seat and thighs. Below the knee a little baggy but not terrible. I have a broad chest and its perfect up top. The other commenter is right, the strap in the back is missing so using as an X is uncomfortable and straight on can slip off. Oddly enough my fiance has the women’s pair and those have the strap. Top pocket is perfect for phone and wallet. Overall, for resort days and for the price, you can’t beat them.

Light, comfortable, great against wind

Wife purchased a pair for herself so I bought myself a pair. First day of skiing (Nov 24th) at Glacier 3000 in Switzerland was cold (-3 C/ 28-29 F) and windy (gusts up to 15-20 mph) but the sun was out. Bibs are light, fit very well and blocked the wind perfectly. Underneath I had a pair of Merino wool long underwear and light athletic warmup pants. I was perfectly comfortable. Wish there were zippers up legs, but easily fit over ski boots. 6' tall, 32' waist, 185 lbs: Medium fit great

Nice, but not quite as pictured

The snow pants are overall good warmth. The picture online shows there is a strap to keep the straps in an X across your back, however this is not actually on the pants. The straps then either rub on your neck if crossed, or fall off your shoulders if not crossed. It was annoying enough that I ended up returning them. The pants were comfortable, and well constructed, but seem to be better for a person with long legs and a short torso. Otherwise they do ride up your backend as another reviewer pointed out.

Surprisingly Great Fit

Before purchasing, I went to my local REI to try on a pair. A lot of reviews suggest that the sizing is a bit snug in the hips. I must say, this is the first pair of bibs I've tried on that had a near perfect fit! Most other snow pants are way too snug in the seat and thighs - for reference I am 5'10" and weigh ~210 with an athletic build - I tried on a L. Safe to say I purchased and am looking forward to my first trip out west this year. I'm excited to give the waterproof layer a run for it's money on the slopes. Will be looking are purchasing the coordinating jacket at my local REI as well. Seem to be a great value.

Comfortable But Loud

The bibs are very good quality. They are comfortable to wear and easy to move around in. I wore them 4 or 5 times before returning because of the noise. The whip-whip-whip-whip sound these make while walking is too loud. Almost all snow pants or bibs make noise while walking, but the Powderbounds are the loudest I've experienced. Most of my use is walking the dogs, clearing snow and hiking. These would be absolutely fine in noisier environments like a ski hill or lodge. When hiking through a wooded Minnesota trail with the dogs, the noise is too much.

Ripped after 2 uses

Do not buy, spend your money elsewhere. I liked this product at first - it looked and fit as expected with plenty of convenient pockets. Also kept me warm on a 5 degree day in Colorado. However, after only 2 ski days and 1 laundry visit (tumble-dry on low as tag instructs) the pant leg developed a rip in the bottom right leg. REI in-store employee informed me this was not covered under warranty (I am a member who has never returned anything). I was willing to try another pair as replacement, I've generally had good luck with the REI brand. I only used this product as intended - skiing for 6 total hours and washed following instructions. No wipe outs or anything else while skiing that could have accounted for the rip. It was definitely a product failure.

Awesome insulated front country bibs!

Received free product

These bibs are a great addition to your mountain wear for cold days at the resort! The fit is great and they have a zipper fly so you don't have to completely undress to use the restroom. Additionally, they are insulated but it isn't so much that you can only wear them on the coldest days or only have room for a thin baselayer. The space and insulation allow you to decide how much extra warmth you need by changing your base tights. If it isn't crazy cold or you plan on doing some short side country they can paired a light or midweight bottom. If the day is freezing and the plan is to stick to the lifts, then go heavy weight base. There are vents to shed some heat but I would still mainly recommend these bibs for lift/light aerobic activities. The bibs are comfy and are sturdy so far. Will update after long-term use.

Nice bibs but fit is on the small size

Try before you buy. I ordered these online because the store was out of stock. I am 6 ft, 170 lbs, 33 in. waist so I ordered size M. The bibs ended up feeling too tight above the waist (uncomfortable in the sitting position too). With an underlayer on, the legs also felt restrictive to deep bends. Exchanged for a size L and the fit is much better. Trying them out on the slopes later today!
