Core Shot and Sheath Damage After a Month of Use
I don't often leave reviews, but I couldn't let this one slip: After less than a month of use, my 9.3 TC Eco Dry has significant core and sheath damage at one end of the rope—enough that I ended up having to chop off about 3m. Edelrid was unwilling to replace/refund under their warranty policy. I have owned several ropes over the years and never had one wear such prematurely. Certainly feel free to take your chances, but I won't be buying this rope—or any Edelrid rope, for that matter—again.
Quality rope, but…
This rope is thinner than most at 9.3 cm which makes it lightweight, but also very fast through the belay device. The website says you don’t need to “untwist” the rope before use. That was not our experience. We had terrible twisting that made our first day with the rope a hassle of pigtails. it was much better on day two after running it through the meadow, so to speak.
Never recovers if twisted
Started out a bit difficult to control in a belay device as it is quite slick - more so than prior 'dry' ropes we've used. But it was nice for a while as it pulled cleanly from rappels and just slid over chicken-heads and rope-eating cracks. Then we lowered off a poor anchor that twisted the rope. No amount climbing and rappelling "fixed" it; the rope retained the twist even after many, many pitches of rapping off everything we climbed. Constantly curled and tied itself in knots with the twisting. Still usable, I suppose, but a pain in the neck.
Perfect length for raps, obvious middle, beautifu!
LOVE the new rope, Hot pink too!
Another Amazing Rope
This rope is the best bi-color/bi-pattern rope a climber could ask for! I'll never have trouble finding the middle mark while rapping again. And the 100% PFC free dry treatment makes my inner hippy happy. The rope is still brand new, but I'm sure it will live up the high quality that I've experienced with Edelrid ropes in the past.
Best rope I've ever had.
Light weight and with the bicolor you never guess where the middle is.
Middle point off and sheath damage
I noticed that the middle point is not truly centered, the blue side is an arm length longer. I’ve used the rope for a total of 3 days of outdoor top rope and lead activities, no falls or anything that could damage the rope, but I noticed the sheath damage.
