Best Kayak
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS KAYAK!!!! It was love at first paddle!! Most recently, my kayak adventures were on Lake Tahoe and Fallen Leaf Lake in calm and choppy water!! The ORU performed beautifully in calm and windy conditions!! Setting up and breaking down gets easier and quicker with each use!! Best purchase I’ve made in a long time!!
Perfect Space Saver - Works like a Dream
How can you beat a foldable kayak that can fit in the trunk of your car?? I love how lightweight it is (<20lbs)! The set-up took a little longer than I expected and the take-down was relatively easy, but I did need a second set of hands the first time setting up/taking down. My only complaint is getting in and out of it was tricky and I tipped it trying to get in so my butt got soaked. Upon first use, it felt a little wobbly in the water, but after slight adjustments, I got the hang of it pretty quickly. I tested it both on a lake and river. Worked perfectly. I’m very satisfied with my Beach LT Oru Kayak and recommend it to anyone who loves being out on the water, but don’t have the space for transport!
Perfect for apartment living
I’ve had my eye on Oru for about 2 years after my friend told me about his. I tried out another friend’s Inlet and felt too wobbly, the Beach was much more stable in the water. The first day assembling took me about 30 minutes because of how stiff the creases were. I left it assembled for 24 hours and then took 30 min to break down, again because the creases were stiff. I’m 5’4 and 115lbs so the boat is a hair too big for easy carrying and folding it back into the box. I ended up flipping the kayak over to bend the bottom creases inward. My first paddle it only took 15 minutes to assemble and 10 to break down! The Beach is much taller in the box than I realized so I store it under my breakfast bar, the Inlet would have fit under my bed. But the longer, more stable Beach fits my needs better. The design was mostly as expected from seeing my friend’s kayaks. However, the newer Beach LT design has these cut outs in the plastic where it folds into the cockpit. It looks like someone took a box cutter to it and looks like a manufacture error. It’s found on all four sides of the cockpit. I sent photos in to Oru and on the Oru Owners Facebook group, and was assured this is the design. Oru should improve the look of this because it looks so uncharacteristic of Oru’s attention to detail. I’m giving 4/5 because of my personal challenges with the size of the kayak and the poor cut outs. I know most wouldn’t discredit the kayak for those reasons but for such a high price tag, I’m going to be selective. It tracks well, needs more oomph than a hard shelled kayak but I like slow paddling anyway. I would recommend to anyone who needs to save space or are physically challenged by transporting hardshell kayaks!
First time I closed it, I broke a clip

We love our kayak !!
My wife and I both love using our new kayak. The kayak is easy to fold/unfold and the lightweight design makes it so easy to carry to the water. I am 6'3" 275, so I was a bit worried how it would hold up with me using it, but after 10 minutes of paddling I could tell how durable and strong the kayak is. Folded, it stores perfectly in our truck drawer, so convenient!
Just plain stellar...thanks, Oru!
I've wanted an Oru ever since they first hit the water. Having recently begun travels by van, the time finally was right: I bought a Beach LT, as that model struck me as the best fit for the vagabond life - and it's the model Oru recommended too. For reference, I am 6' 2", 175#. What a great rig. When packed, it's small enough to stash inside the van. Easy and fast to set up/take down, light to carry. And then the best part: it paddles well...really well. Not sea kayak well, but quite enjoyably well. Brilliant. My Oru has added a vast new playground to my overland travels. Love it!
Beach LT
Loved my first journey in my Beach LT kayak. Great ride, comfortable seat! The video instructions were so helpful with step by step directions on building and re-folding the kayak. Can’t wait to take my dog!
Another good buy from Oru
Bought an inlet first and then this one. It's more stable on slightly rougher water but I prefer the inlet because of its ease of setting up and also the amount of cockpit space it has
It’s fun!
I love being able to take a kayak anywhere without having to struggle with putting a rack on the car. It takes me about 15 minutes to set it up and about half that time to break it down. It’s easier with a friend to help. So far it’s held up ok, but time will tell how long it will stay strong and water tight. It comfortably accommodates a small cold passenger (though I’d recommend a collapsible stadium seat for said child, or they’ll complain about needing a backrest)
I’m in LOVE!
I’m amazed at how easy my Beach LT is to assemble / disassemble. I also find it to be fast and it takes on very little water (mainly only from water that I splash in with my paddle). I have had it for just over two weeks and have been out seven times. My shortest paddle was three miles and my longest was eleven. I’m crossing my fingers that it will last me a long time. I’m trying hard to care well for it.
