Great hat - excellent protection with style!
Bought this for my adult son (late 20s early 30s) several years ago and he absolutely loves it! Primary purpose was for sun protection when paddleboarding. At first, he wasn't sure he liked it and was convinced after wearing it one time when he went paddleboarding. Since he moved to So Cal, he regularly wears it at the beach and really looks the part! The hat is light, sturdy, comfortable, and offers great sun protection to the face and neck while looking very stylish. Love the very cool tuna graphic in a beautiful blue on the underside of the hat, and the blue trim. It has held up for over 3 years - keeping its shape and color even though exposed all the elements - sun, wind, and salty air. Highly recommend!
Great Sun Block
This is a great hat for use outdoors around the pool and doing yard work. Definitely blocks the sun without limiting visibility. Due to its stiffness, I don't think I'd use it for hiking since it would most likely hit any day pack. It breaths well enough; but in the Southern Arizona heat, I do find I sweat more than with other fabrics. Overall a keeper for the yard & pool. OSFA does seat nicely.
Off ALL of my sun-shade hats....
Off ALL of my sun-shade hats, this one is by far my favorite. I have quite a collection of sun-shade hats collected over the years trying to find "just the right one." Of all of my sun hats, the straw ones that I own are my favorite. And out of all of those, this Peter Grimm Lifeguard hat is my all time favorite. I love, love love the style, shape and large brim. At first I wasn't too thrilled about having tuna on the underside of the brim, but I loved the blue color. Now, I love the hat so much that I could care less about the tuna. LOL. It's a nice fit, not too tight and not too loose. It fits well on my head. Just snug enough not to blow off in the wind and a strap the hangs to your chest even if it does. As I reached my mid 50's my skin has gotten very sensitive to the sun and turns red-as-a-tomato and burns and feels like it's on fire at the slightest of sun rays. This hat literally save my skin especially when walking my dog and paddleboarding. I would highly recommend this hat!!
There is a reason lifeguards where these.
The key to a summer shade hat is light weight, large brim and comfort. Straw is light, the brim is wide and the terry cloth is comfortable. What is there not to like? You can find less expensive hats but those tend to not be comfortable.
Great for shade, rain and heat
Works great for shielding from the sun and flyfishing! Light and durable. Dries fast too
