Really Grippy Great Fit

Love the rubber compound, the bond to the peddle is incredible. Stiffness is just right for me I can still walk in them and not feel awkward. Love the lace retention more than I thought I would. the overall build quality is very high. There were no loose threads coming out of stitches anyplace. I notice this with many shoes and is a pet peeve. have 175 miles on them and show no obvious points of failure yet. Im considering taking Spd's off my endurance bike and using these shoes on a upcoming 4 day bike trip. flat peddles on my road bike previously unthinkable for me.

Comfy but no grip

I wanted to love these shoes but they just aren't great. I have 130 miles and 22 hours of riding on them including an enduro race and they just dont have good grip. I have been riding flats for years and these shoes are the only pair I have ridden where my feet fly off and move around on the pedals in rough chundery sections. They are comfortable and seem very durable but for me it comes down to grip and these just dont have it. They take 3 or 4 rides to break in too but once they do they are very comfortable.

Super sticky and comfy

These shoes fit so comfortably and have amazing grip onto multiple different pedals. I have tried them on a few different sets and they all grip better than any other current shoe on the market. I don't understand how anyone could say they do not grip well, if they think that, they need to learn how to ride a bike. They also are very weather resistant and good in all types of conditions.

Great MTB shoes!

There are lots of reasons why I like these shoes. I'll start with most important. The shoes have just the right sole stiffness. You can walk around in them in perfect comfort, but they are stiff enough that they feel firm on the pedals. The rubber sole is sticky enough to give a solid feel, but not as sticky as the 5-10s that practically glue your shoe to the pedals. this allows you to adjustyour foot position on the pedals a bit, which is great. Laces are round, not flat like 5-10s. There's a good reason for this: round laces stay tied! RCs also have a nice elastic strap that you can tuck you laces into so that they don't get loose and into your crank, causing you to have a horrible accident. Comfort is excellent. Breathability is just okay. This is something all MTB shoe companies need to work on! They last and can be cleaned pretty easily after a day in the dirt. Sizing seemed to be about right to me.

Wrong in so many ways

Not only are they at least a half size too small but even when you get ones long enough the profile is much too narrow and very uncomfortable. They don't grip the pedals as good as a hiking shoe with a heel. Rocks and dirt flip into the shoe so I have to stop regularly and shake them out. I'm going back to dirt riding with my hiking shoes and giving these to the thrift store.

Satisfied purchase.

Great quality build, solid support, firm fit and good protection. Grip is as good as 5Ten, quality seems better and definitely confidence inspiring. So far only 10 hours 4 rides, the fit was no problem from the first pedal but got way better on my second session.

Much too small

I bought an 11.5 US. They are a half inch shorter and a half inch more narrow than a real 11.5 as compared to three other boots that I have. They measure the same size as an old pair of 11 Asolos. So go up at least a half size.

Overall really good MTB shoe

My old Asics starting getting holes in the soles so I decided to finally buy a dedicated MTB shoe. Overall I really like these things. They seem well-constructed and are much more substantial than the Five Ten Freerider, which I also tried on. The materials in particular feel like they'll hold up much better over time. They are definitely stiff out of the box but even after the first ride have become noticeably more compliant and comfortable. The tongue is attached with elastic on the inside sides of the shoe so it gives you a "sock-like" fit. The lace-keepers are also a nice touch, as is the extra protection at the heel and toebox. The grip is certainly and noticeably better than a pair of ordinary shoes, but as my first dedicated pair of shoes I have nothing else to compare to. I knocked a star off because the heel height seems a tad low and may cause issues with the foot wanting to come out of the shoe (depends on the foot), and also because I found them to be a half size too small and exchanging a shoe that REI doesn't carry in-store for a different size isn't the simplest thing to do.

RC Helion Elite

Been riding these for 18 months after trying 5/10s & leatts. Very happy with these. A little snug but otherwise good fit while striking an ideal balance between grip vs protecting your feet.
