As a dedicated winter shelter the snow flaps, meshed peak vent and adjustable upper zipper vent are great additions over the regular Mega Light. Being able to bury the snow flaps rather than the normal edge of the Mega Light helps save room inside and helps support the walls when snow-loaded. New go-to winter shelter for 1-3 people.
I used this up on baker with 3 people and it was very comfortable, fun, and light to carry.
Great product! Very impressive build quality and reinforced extremely well on all stress points. The zipper and buckle on the door are strong and tough for when it get's cold/icy. The guy-lines are super strong 3mm cord, however there are no line-locs on the corners so setting it up correctly is very important to get a taught pitch. The center pole being included is a nice touch - its a quality stiff carbon pole. Really excited to try this on some tours in the coming months!
I’m a big fan of this style of tent for winter camping. Unfortunately BD really dropped the ball on the craftsmanship. The quality just feels cheap. Guideline loops are in an odd spot. The one ripped off on day one. Ideally I want guideline loops on the corners too. Not sure of anything similar though, so unless you can make your own this is really the only option.
Was guiding a school program where all the students were using these. Had one of guideline loops rip off and the stitching around the snow skirt seemed thin, some of them started to tear. Now, I do live on the coast and we were camping in some of the hardest conditions possible. (0°C HST 40cm) The water equivalency of that snow is high!
Very excited on the updated tent design, solid construction and the included pole is light and burly. Another major advantage, the tent is actually seam sealed from the factory! What a novel idea.
Very light, easy to pack and to set-up. I would I loved to choose between two colors as sometimes, this beautiful blue can rapidly become darker as the sun goes down.
Everything is pretty much how I thought. I would like to see something to adjust the length of stakes at the four corners and the guy out lines.
Pretty simple its a mid with snowflaps but it is light, simple, easy to set up, and all you need for spring missions in the mountains.
The sides fall in too much limiting the space. Needs an option to have collapsable poles to create a tunnel.
