Are skis an afterthought?
I love the idea, but the implementation is off. The width of the 2 clamps is fixed, and is going to land on top of your bindings. What this means (and is not clear unless you look closely at the oddly angled photos) is that the skis stick way out on one side of the rack. If you don't drive a really wide car (think Tesla Model Y or Honda CRV), your skis are going to stick an extra few inches out at the back and your edges will be very exposed to road debris. If they had made the topshelf a few inches wider, the skis could be centered on the rack and this would not be a problem. I'll give it credit for being solidly built, but am afraid I'll be returning the SnowBank and moving on to figure something else out.
Skis don’t fit right
The width is fixed and too narrow to fit bindings between. If to put my skis in so that one side of the clamps goes between the bindings, my 188 skis stick out past my side view mirrors on a Hyundai Palisade. On top of that, I couldn’t even get it to close securely when it had three pairs of skis in it. This is getting returned.
Not a great design
Wish I could give this a better rating, I am very happy with the rest of the exo system. However, the ski rack is very poorly designed. There is no way to prevent getting road salt and dirt on your skis and boards, so you either need to put them in a cheap ski bag you don’t care about, or use the cargo bin on the bottom rack and skis on the top rack. Another issue is that the width between the clamps is not compatible with skis, as strange as that seems.
