Badger Sport Sunscreen- Works!
I have used the Badger Sport sunscreen every day over the past week or so. The bottle is nice and I have not experienced any leaks keeping it in my day hiking pack. I travel out of my Ford Transit full time over the summer so I use ALOT of sunscreen. Being based in Florida it is important for me to have reef safe sunscreens, and this one is! The texture of the Badger Sport is a bit thick, and a little goes a long way. I have found that for a mineral sunscreen it doesn't make your skin look as "white" as I have experienced in the past. I have used on my face and arms, and it was worked well to prevent any sunburns! One complaint that I have is it feels a big greasy when you are applying it and if you touch the skin you have applied it to afterwards. I am prone to breakouts on the face, and haven't experienced, so not sure what exactly is causing the greasy feeling. If you are looking for a reef safe sunscreen that doesn't leave behind white streaks this works great! Just have to be ready for a bit of a greasy feeling.
I wish I liked it more!
I wore this sunscreen at an outdoor music festival on a hot summer day in Wisconsin. I did find that it smelled nice, applied smoothly, and it prevented sunburn. I like that it's cruelty-free and addresses many sustainability concerns of mine. However, throughout the day, I found that the product seemed to re-accumulate in areas like elbow creases and behind my knees, leaving white streaks. It also felt like it never went away. Even late into the night, my skin felt a bit greasy and there were times where I rubbed my eye (even after washing my hands after applying the sunscreen) and I had a burning feeling that I got sunscreen in my eye. It both seemed like it never left my skin, but seemed like it wasn't sweat-resistant.
Thick and oily feeling, but natural
This sunscreen was very thick and left a fairly oily feel and residue when applied. It also had a fairly strong scent that also seemed to linger and took quite a lot of rubbing in to deeply apply it. After wearing one coating while being outside most of the day I noticed a second application would’ve definitely been advised. The consistency is about as thick as toothpaste so careful on the amount you put on your hands before applying. After a day of hiking with it on I really needed a strong rinse and a washcloth to feel like I removed it. Overall I think this is hard to recommend - if you’re bent on using a natural sunscreen this is could be a good option, however if scent and residue/feel are more important you might consider a different item.
Tenacious Sunscreen
This stuff hangs tough. It may require a bit of elbow grease to rub in if you’re on the hairy side, but it sure stays on once it’s there. I still had very good coverage after several hour-long stints in the pool with the kids. The flip side to that is it didn’t like to come off once it was time to clean up. If you’re looking for a sunscreen that has staying power, look no further.
No more tears while you play!
Used this sunscreen during a few rounds of disc golf and while mowing the lawn. Held up for more than 2 hours in Kentucky heat (89 degrees) and humidity (81%). Major plus is that when using it on my face, sweat did not pull it into my eyes and cause the stinging/burning that I have experienced with other sport sunscreens. Comes out of the bottle really thick, but rubbing it between your hands instantly melts it for quick and even application. Bottle is a convenient size to tuck away in any pack/purse/bag. I appreciated that I was not constantly smelling it while I wore it. Feels really light and not oily on your skin!
Sunscreen Goals Achieved!
Hey there, sun seekers and outdoor adventurers! I've got the inside scoop on this bomb sunscreen I received to review. Let's talk pros, people. The fact that it's mineral-based means it's not only safer for your skin, but it's also better for the environment. No more slathering on chemicals that you can't even pronounce. This stuff keeps it natural and effective. Plus, it's got you covered with some serious UV protection, so no sunburn worries here. But hey, let's keep it real and mention a con. It feels a tad heavy when you first apply it. But hey, hang in there, my friend! It gets absorbed real quick, so you won't even notice it's there.
Smooth mineral sunscreen without residue
I took this sunscreen with me to the Colorado desert in Penitente Canyon. I used this on my face and my kids’ faces. The sunscreen is hard to get out of the tube, but probably from the beeswax in the product. However, it went on more like lotion than sunscreen with no grit and rubs in easily (less white residue than typical mineral sunscreens). Even with a multi-hour exposed desert hike, no sunburns (and no post-sunscreen acne like I usually get). Another great perk? Fragrance free! Only downside is that this would be hard to use over your whole body given how thick it is but definitely great for faces.
Guilt free and effective
Feels great, works great. When the temperatures are cold, it can be difficult to squeeze out, but this honestly isn't a concern for me. I prefer when it comes out slowly so that I don't use up too much. A little goes a long way. I am hispanic and have a brown complexion. If I slather on too much or don't rub it in enough, it can create a white face effect. However, that is why it is important to start out with less, rub it in, and add more as needed. I cannot comment on how this would fare for others with even darker skin tones.
Solid, Safe Sunscreen
My wife and I used this exclusively while hiking to different swimming spots in Bruce National Park, Ontario. It has a real clean feel on the skin and spreads on easier than most other mineral sunscreens we have tried.
Effective and relatively easy to apply
The badger sunscreen went on relatively easily for a zinc based product. It was able to be rubbed in so i wasn't left with big white blotches all over my skin. The sunscreen held up to the equatorial sun very well and i felt positively about not negatively affecting the sea life with standard sunscreen chemicals.
