Fantastic commuter tire!

During the pandemic, I decided to give cycling another try and picked up a used Trek Navigator 400 with 26 inch wheels and the original Trek Navigator 400 knobby tires. I was really looking to make this a commuter/comfort bike, so the Continental Contact Urbans were great, fast tires with excellent wet grip.

Great upgrade for a cheap bike

I have a cheap commuter bike that I slapped these on. The original tires were Giant PR-2s which are fine, but they are super hard. They really trade puncture resistance for comfort. These tires make the bike feel like a whole other bike. You always hear about what a great upgrade new tires experiencing it is different. These tires practically eliminate road buzz. I don't even feel like I need to ride with gloves anymore and my butt feels much better after a ride too. They're sticky too. Squeak all over the place when you're trying to move the bike around. They're also reasonably easy to install, but I definitely needed my tire levers.

Fast tire with a plush ride

I purchased the 26x1.75" for the rear of my ICE recumbent trike. (I had to order the two 20x2.0" front tires from Germany as they are not available in US shops). Urban tires are fast for a commuting tire, faster than some performance tires.

A durable tire lighter than Marathons?

Finally got out this week to try out the new. Contis. I purchased these tires with durability in mind as I hate tire problems on the road. They are signicantly lighter than my standard all around favorites Schwalbe Marathons, so we will see how they rate comparatively for durability . I am very happy with the Smooth rolling on pavement and so far seem pretty tough on some less than perfect gravel and stone paths along the canals in the Phoenix area. They are responsive on turns and handle well. They were difficult to mount on the rims that I own and sacrificed one tube in the mounting process so hoping no flats on the road. As with all tires time will be the ultimate test.

Fantastic commuter bike tires

These tires are wonderful for commuter bikes on paved roads and bike lanes. I put a lot of miles in on these tires. No complaints with these tires. Reflective wall on tires is a benefit for night riding.

Continental doesn't stand behind their product

This tire has a 2-year manufacturer warranty for manufacturing defects. Unfortunately for this consumer, they decide what is defective. In my case, they did not want to take responsibility for a failure spot near the wire bead where their lay-up was insufficient. A genuine effort in support would have asked for lot number of the tire and examined if other failures may have occurred within that lot.

Pleasantly surprised...so far.

Replaced a set of 700x38 gravel tires with these in 700x32. it wasn't what I wanted but they had them in stock and at half the price of what I was looking for I figured I would give them a try. Excellent feel so far. Unfortunately, I only got in 2 miles before a flat on one of my newly installed tubes. I'll update my review once I get more miles in on them.

Fast, smooth, and fun. Great tires!

After a few years the Bontrager tires that came on my Trek commuter bike needed replacing. I did some research and got the Serfas Drifter (a "fast rolling tire for almost any environment"). I replaced the bontragers over the winter and in the spring when I began riding again my times were longer (which i didn't really care about - I am getting close to 60 so maybe it's me). But after almost a year of riding on them, i felt like I just wasn't getting a responsive ride. On a whim, I saw the Conti Contact Urban Tires and decided hey, i have this REI dividend, so why not try em. Glad I did! Dropped 5 minutes on my regular 10-mile ride (paved trail). Smooth ride, great response, felt like it made me a better cyclist and was definitely a more enjoyable ride. Haven't been on a long ride yet, but expect these will be excellent as well. Maybe it's not an apples to apples comparison between the Contis and the Serfas, but if you're riding mainly pavement the Contis are far superior at the same price.
