No longevity

I have been riding with Speedplay for years and was happy with the product but now that Wahoo took over I can’t get 1 season without the cleat spring breaking. No sure I want to keep these.

Speedplay Cleats take time to get them right

The cleats are very good once you get them set up. Trial and error because I ultimately added a front shim to sit properly on my new Fizik cycling shoes. It was very difficult to engage the cleat without the shim. Also the Q factor takes time to set up which is foot distance from the crank. And setting up fore and after a couple of times to dial in where to put the cleat. Bring a phillips screwdriver with you. I love the float and easy entrance and exit once the cleats are set up properly, just be patient.

sad that Wahoo bought Speedplay

I’ve ridden Speedplay for 20 years and I still think they are the best pedal system for road. I’ve never had trouble with them until Wahoo came along. The springs don’t last and the cleats are more expensive. This last break caught me by surprise when I could not unclip and I fell into traffic. The spring tip broke off and slipped behind, preventing it from expanding so locked onto pedal. Could have been ugly but only minor dings.

Better now than ever!

Installed just like the originals. Click in and release are also the same. Walkable covers seem to attach better and stay on as I haven't lost one after using them for a few hundred miles. Very happy so far!

Keep a spare set of cleats. They do wear out.

It is a pedal cleat, it works. Unfortunately, they do wear out and need to be replaced. Buy an extra set when you buy pedals. Keeping a spare set on hand means never missing a riding day. You'll be glad you did.

Improved design - same great product

The new cleats are a big improvement from the previous models. The ability to customize the amount of float is a great feature not found in other brands.

These do not work for X pedals

Caution on these. I’ve used Speedplay X pedals for 30 years and these Wahoos do not work with them. The release is very difficult and they do not release reliably. So, if you like the idea of falling over in front of a car at an intersection because you are locked in, they might be fine. They were dangerous for me. Wahoo should bring back X cleats

Spring in the cleat keeps breaking

Great pedals, have been using them for 20 years. But since Wahoo took over Speedplay, the quality is not the same anymore. The spring in the cleat breaks every 3000 miles or so. This never happened before Wahoo got involved

poor quality of the metal ring clip

The PEDALS are awesome and last for years. The metal ring in the clip is TERRIBLE and you'll be replacing yearly with moderate use.

Original SpeedPlay

These are great, they work with my original Speed Play chromoly pedals!
