The North Face  Base Camp Duffel - Large

Are you looking to transport a dead body? Or at least the equivalent weight b/c you can't calm your anxiety and overpack? this bag has you covered. It has great structure and volume. The straps are strong and the backpack straps make for a great method of transporting this bag when you've overloaded it with too many things. I did find the zippers to be a bit stiff, but I suspect they with easy with time. And I've learned the hard way, if you are throwing this on your back, make sure to secure the hand/shoulder straps to each other first. You don't want to catch the wrong strap as you are swinging 50lbs around.

Bought this bag for trip to top of Kilimanjaro, after a week of being schlepped up and over the mountain, still looks good as new, this bag was totally worth the price, look forward to bringing it on many more adventures

This bags awesome. Bombproof & reasonably waterproof. Very durable & holds more than I expected. I packed a weeks worth of clothes for both my son & I, plus all my running gear & 3 pairs of shoes w/ room to spare. Thankfully there's compression straps to help cinch everything down nice & snug. Yellow color made retrieval at the carousel a breeze.

The Base Camp is a quality, durable duffle. Mine looks like new after five years of regular use and travel, including supported bike tours, car camping, road trips, and occasionally as checked luggage on flights. It’s one of those items that I’ve used far more than expected, seems like it will last near forever, and has me wishing that I purchased one sooner. The shoulder straps make it easy to carry and navigate crowded places. The other handles provide options to carry and help with loading and unloading. The mesh pockets and extra compartment on one end allow for some organizing and quick access. The water-resistant material is helpful when carrying it in the elements or when it'll be piled up with other luggage outside. I highly recommend the Base Camp. I recently purchased a second, when the family needed another duffle bag for a trip.

This thing is huge. Fit enough for a week long camping trip for 2 with plenty of room for clothing for 70 degree days and nights in the teens. Very well made. The new “recycled” version is much sturdier than other TNF duffels I own. Straps are comfortable and the bag does great on your back or in your hand. And of course, it looks great as well.

I bought my Base Camp bag from REI in Austin in 1997 and immediately it was my primary bag for a trip that ended up going around the globe and through several war zones. It’s still my primary “big bag” and still goes on everything from kayak trips to weekends with my kiddo. 26 years and every part of it still works perfectly.

My wife bought this for a sailing trip as a carry on. It was huge and thus got checked, totally defeating the purpose. But, now she has this kickass bag that swallows anything she wants to bring on any trip. It has proven especially useful on camping and snowboarding trips. Basically awesome as long as we aren't flying. It isn't bad to fly with it, it is just so big you have to check it. She always brings a backpack flying so that means this dumb ape is stuck carrying this thing around. All in all, a wonderful bag and a great color. She got yellow and it is gorgeous. If there are different sizes, I'd reckon she is in the 100-120L range. On a separate note, she says she loves it and is very happy. It is comfortable to lug around with the backpack straps as well.

I have taken this bag with me all over the world. It’s been thrown on and off military airplanes, helicopters and armored vehicles. I loved it so much I’ve bought it in multiple sizes! Highly recommend if you are looking for a durable bag that will stand up to abuse.

I wanted to wait until I had taken this bag on some trips to properly review it and after taking it out on a safari, road trips, and flying with it several times, I feel confident enough to say that it's a really solid duffel that is worthy of it's longevity and reputation. If there's one thing I can say isn't perfect it's that the carrying bag/case is just big enough to get it to pack down into but that's not really a problem.There's a little bit of organization available with the separate pocket on the end and then the one on the top flap but for the most part it's a large bag that holds up to the elements and carries a ton of stuff. I like to use packing cubes with it to make it easy to keep things together without having to take everything out at once to find something. If I did have one recommendation for their design team it would be to make it an easy option to remove the backpack straps and swap them for a long strap or just leave it empty for flying.

I have several of these North Face duffel bags in various sizes and colors. They are great bags. Very durable with quality zippers. Haven't really seen any signs of wear after about three years of use. We keep one on our boat and everything in it stays dry.
