I dislike stuffed jersey pockets
BillC
A good size for long days with unpredictable weather. Holds jacket, gloves, and hat plus tube and tools so my jersey pockets are free for phone and food. It's rolled-down close to its minimum size, so plenty of room for a second tube, extra snacks, sunscreen, etc. It doesn't rub, sway, or swing. I can't tell it's there, so it's more comfortable than an over-stuffed jersey.

Nice bag but bad seat connection design

I was impressed with the waterproof material, the overall design, size and the availability of bright yellow for visibility (REI only has black but Ortleib direct has the alternative color). Got it and installed it by following the directions. My Specialized Tero 3.0 stock seat does not accommodate the bag, despite spending more than an hour configuring and reconfiguring it multiple times. The snap lock fails to work properly and I have had to cut short trips because the clip fail. Fortunately I carry paracord so I was able to secure it. Ortleib will not take returns if it is used so you are out of luck. Could I replace my seat to find one that better accommodates the design. Of course but that is ridiculous as a new seat would cost more than a different brand with a different attachment system that works as a replacement.

No go for Brooks saddle.

I tried installing this on a bike with an American Classic seatpost and a Brooks B17 saddle. The part of the bag in front of the mount mechanism is about 3/4" too long to lock the bag to the fitting on the saddle rails. The bag is of generally well made. The mounting screws are Philips head and the fancy Ortlieb fitting is attached to the bag with Torx screws; most bicyclists have Allen wrenches, so why not use Allen screws? The pictorial instructions are not enough, and the manufacturer should really invest in a technical writer and some translators. I am returning it.

Doesn't work if saddle is fully forward

This bag seemed like the perfect solution for storing the usual tools, inner tubes, etc., but also room for a light jacket or two. The problem is the saddle mount: if you ride with your saddle all the way forward on the saddle rails (in order to have a more comfortable reach to the handlebars), this bag will not mount properly. The bag mount depends on having a centimeter or more of the saddle's rear-most horizontal part of the rail exposed at the rear of the bike. Trying to mount to the angled portion of the saddle rail that goes up under the saddle did not work - the quick release mechanism depends on being mounted to the lower, horizontal part of the saddle rails. Since my wife and I ride with our saddles all the way forward, it is useless and we are returning it. Otherwise, it seemed like a decent bag.

Good design, but with a quality issue

Quality does not match the legendary ortlieb standard: attachment strap broke rendering the bag useless.

Great bag

This bag holds a LOT, yet folds down easily when not full. Great quality, easy to attach, and seems to be waterproof.

Versatile Pack

I am very pleased with this seat pack. Originally, I did not consider Ortlieb because of cost. However, this model is actually quite economical for its size and versatility. I use it for day rides and maybe single overnight summer adventures. I ride a Surly Disc Trucker 52 with about 5.5 inches of seatpost exposed. This bag fits that geometry very well. It uses a bracket and clip system to attach to the saddle and a Velcro strap to grab the post. The bag has a thin composite Internal frame for rigidity in the first third of the structure. The clip mount is adjustable within about a 2-2.5 inch range. I found the attachment very strong. The bag is quite roomy for the class. At about 4 liters it gobbled up: a spare tube, wrenches, a baseball cap, my wife’s cycling jacket, and a 7 3/4” surfboard center fin (picked up along the ride). It would have taken another garment. In addition, you can stuff a folded 4th Gear Flyer Omni surf mat into it (it won’t fit anything else). That’s impressive! Same price as a Rev Shrew Bag and I think it has a better mount, better construction (waterproof), and more capacity. While not made in the USA, it is made by our good friends in Germany.

Another great waterproof bag from Ortlieb

This bag is large enough to hold all of my essential gear on my bike that can't use a handlebar bag. the 4 liter capacity. I like that the mounting bracket is adjustable, so it will fit multiple bikes. This saddle bag is waterproof like other Ortlieb bags with the roll top closure. When I roll this one up, I have to unroll it a bit to let the captured air out. The back has slats for hooking a tail light for safety.

Awkward/Poor Design

Strange design that necessitated a change in my saddle position to fit into place (not cool). It is fairly bulky in design, the back of my legs bump into it with each peddle. Not able to compress down as much as I was expecting, so if it's not full everything rattles around inside. Overall poor product, plan to send back.
