Strap came unglued!
The soles were solid and comfortable but the main strap came unglued rendering these useless. Contacted Choco and they said it was a natural process “like rust”. Don’t wander far with these or you might be screwed.
So far sooooo good
I have been sorely missing the classic Chaco Flip for years, and these feel like the real deal. I've blown through a few other major brands' burliest flip flops trying to replace my old Flips, which lasted through years of abuse hiking, scrambling, and generally being worn all the time. So far, these are performing like those old favorites, showing no signs of wear after a couple months of regular use. The tread is different than the old model and picks up tiny rocks, but offers great traction. Just like the old model, these have a short break-in period and feel a bit rough on the feet straight out of the box, but that's a good sign in my book, as it suggests strong materials. Here's hoping these last!
Not an Ecotread Replacement
I love the old, discontinued Chaco Ecotread flip. I wore my first pair for 5 years, and then discovered, to my great distress, that it had been discontinued and reviews of existing Chaco flips that mentioned the Ecotread were uniformly disappointed. I resorted to buying an old ecotread pair off of ebay. So I was tentatively excited to stumble across this product that seemed to be a resurrection of my old fave. So, first impressions. It looks mostly similar? The top footbed thing is the same. The sole is different and seems like it would wear much faster. Whatever material the middle bit of the footbed is, it seems lighter than on the old product and in fact, I weighed the old and new flips (same size) and the new one is indeed about 20% lighter, which is not encouraging when trying to replace a pair that lasted 5 years. Sizing of the footbed part seems slightly smaller than my old pair, but it was close enough that I could wear it. Here's the absolute deal-breaker that was immediately obvious as soon as I slipped it on: the straps are way too loose. These things flop around like nobody's business. The old version was snug enough that you could walk normally on rough surfaces and your foot would stay well in place. I wouldn't even want to wear these to the beach. Total fail for something that cost $70 after tax. I would have given them a shot otherwise but they're unusable to me, I'll be returning them immediately.
Satisfied repeat customer
This is my third pair of Chaco flip sandals so obviously I like them. I am prone to plantar fasciitis so going barefoot , even at home, is a no go. I wear them at home year round and they go with me on every trip. The arch support provided by these sandals is key for me. This newest pair seems subtly different vs the previous pairs. The sole is grooved and feels grippier (hopefully that stands the test of time). This pair, tho the same size as priors, feel a smidgeon smaller (which actually is good for me but may not be for others).
Bring back the OG model and design, please.
Can’t Chaco just bring back the OG flip flop? It was near perfect. Vibram sole. Non-slip foot bed. Strong webbing. Comfortable. Each pair eventually failed, but it took a while. I’ve reached out to Chaco and customer service has been lackluster. They seem indifferent. No reason why the model was changed and they seemed to not care about the feedback and request to bring back the original design. The $16.99 Flojos from Costco are a better bet. Oh, Chaco will repair their sandals but not their flip flop. What gives???
Replacement for a long-time favorite
I purchased these as a replacement for a 10 year old pair that I lost, and from what I can tell it’s the same ol’ shoe—which is a good thing. If these last half as long as the last pair they’ll be well worth it, as the last ones showed no signs of giving up.
Decent but not the OGs
I had the original Chaco Flips with Vibram soles, loved them, 20 years. The strap pulled out and Chaco doesn’t repair them. Anyway, these are close but not the same. Slightly different footbed, no vibram, straps feel cheap, and weird white tags underfoot I will need to cut out. These won’t be a 20 year flip flop like the OGs, guaranteed.
great quality!
I’ve been wearing these for over 4 years through out the year and they are still in great shape. I like that they are not too soft like most of the flip flops out there that have a lot of cushion. They feel more study and resistant. Looking to buy an extra pair just to have as back up for when something happens to the ones I have.
The everything flip-flop.
Second pair of chaco flips after a lifetime of rainbows. I love these chacos because they are long lasting, waterproof, and no odor. The sole is super grippy if you happen on an unplanned adventure. I bought the brown color with the striped top and they look good for any summer casual to pool & beach trips.
Lasted me about 5 years.
I had these for about 5 years and loved them. I wore them very frequently without issue. Not being leather makes them easy to clean as well. Not sure how long they would’ve lasted had a new puppy not got a hold of them. I replaced the, with a pair of Rainbows and have regretted it.
