Nice shirt

I was skeptical about this keeping me cool in the Texas heat, but in the 90*F with 72% relative humidity day that I wore it it did a great job of protecting me from the sun's UV rays while not increasing the felt heat too much with zero wind, but when the wind did kick up it felt really cool and nice. Then going inside to an air conditioned 72*F room it felt like an ice box. Because of these features and the build quality of the shirt I've purchased another and so has a friend. For sizing: I'm 6ft 250lb and got the XXL. It fits slightly loose like how it's slightly loose on the modle in the picture. The XL fit too snug for my personal liking.

Very happy

I ordered a medium. Crazy but it runs a bit large around the waist on me but I have a no belly. With broad shoulders at 6'2 the M fit great on my upper body though. I ordered via email and was unsure about what I was getting (starting a thru hike). I've done a test day hike and I was 100% happy with the design and feel. The neck gaiter and hood are PERFECT. Thumb holes are great and there's enough fabric to cover most of the top of my hand from sun which for me means I won't need spf gloves!! The feel is also great. They nailed a perfect design (minus the fat belly n waste).

Great Sun Hoody

My first impression was I was surprised on how silky the fabric felt in hand. Before purchasing I had only Adidas CrossFit one I bought after getting a bad sunburn a motorcycle track day at Sonoma Raceway about 6 years ago. It is actually still holding up fine but I wanted to add some options. Built in neck gator and the price were what interested me in this product. First, sizing does run a size large. I am 6'2" athletic build with a 40" chest. Typically I wear a medium in t-shirts and sweaters. So I could have ordered a medium, but I chose to order large because although I generally prefer athletic fit over relaxed, but for sun protection, I prefer the fabric to bit more loose. Keep in mind NRS is a brand that sells to MAGA fishing guys, so beer guts are built into the design. The built in neck gator is great. It's a design option I would like to see in more sun hoodies. As some that does not like sunscreen but also burns fairly easily, I will definitely use the mask as needed but probably reserve it to none business trails. I just think the full mask and sunglasses could be unsettling to other hikers on the trail as it may make you look more stalker than Sub Zero. The hood itself could be improved. It has a bit of draw string around the edges and does not extend as far as I would like on my ball cap while hiking. I would like to see them eliminate this edge detail and make the hood bit more generous on it's forward stretch. Aside from that some better color options. I went with the sharkskin one because it is lighter color but also because the only other options were either too look like a Smurf or camo dork. Again I think that is limitation of the fact that this is designed for folks sitting a boat on water not hiking on the trail.

Great for protection from sun

This is a great shirt for fishing, boating, or just being outdoors in the sun. It has great coverage. It seems to run a bit large. I bought a small for my husband and it was still a bit big on him. Material not too heavy. Look nice on.

best summer hoodie so far.

Fantastic; wish there were more colors to choose from. Very comfortable, excellent sun coverage, has just enough weight to have substance but light enough for high summer temps. This is my favorite outdoor summer hoodie.

NRS Varial Hoodie Review

Just spent a week in Hawaii and loved this shirt! super soft, great sun coverage, not the lightest hoodie, but I plan to use this for kayaking, canoeing etc. I'm not sold on the face cover, personally I think it's a bit dorky looking (and my family agreed), so I never used that feature. I got a medium, I'm 6'4" and 170 and it fit perfect.
