This is a great bag for a short day hike! It held whatever I needed without the bulk. An extra jacket, water bottle, bug spray, suntan lotion and snack and still had extra space. I highly recommend it!

Doesn’t fit right

I bought this thinking a high brand like osprey would make a perfect day hiking bag. I’m 5’3” and this is the most uncomfortable bag I’ve ever put on. There’s a strap at the top of the bag that just digs into my neck. When you loosen the straps to try to not get it to dig the bag hangs too low. I saw good reviews when I bought it but I should have paid attention to the poor reviews saying this happened to them as well! I will be returning!

Perfect size for me

I purchased this for day hikes in the Rockies. I found it to be just the right size, comfortable against my back, and gentle on my shoulders when I buckled the strap across my sternum (no bounce). I was able to carry everything I needed each day: lunch, a thick jacket, knit gloves, sunglasses, tissues, sunscreen, snacks, and some other odds and ends. My water bottle was accessible in one of the outer side pockets. I would’ve liked an extra zippered pocket on the front for things I needed frequently, instead of having to reach around inside the larger compartments (because everything always sinks to the bottom). I used it this weekend while traipsing around D.C. and again found it to be the perfect size. Good buy!

Great day pack!

I love this pack for day hiking & biking! It worked great in Acadia National Park when I hiked mountains that required food, map, medication/first aid, pullover, and two 24 ml water bottles. I also carried drawing & weaving stuff that I used along the shores of Acadia and appreciated the waterproof construction. I like having water bottles in outside bottom pockets but know that you can't reach them with the pack on due to it being a smaller pack. The material of construction is all high quality and seems to be the same quality as larger packs. The number of compartments (2 large compartments w/multiple pockets) worked well in organizing my stuff. I look for the straps to hold up well over time. The zippers are of high quality as well. There are a few extra pockets & straps with hooks. Like all Osprey packs, it is built with good ergonomic structure to keep the weight from pulling downward. I had wished that the belt was padded a bit like the shoulder straps but that didn't end up making a difference in comfort. The waste strap was fine. I liked the additional chest strap. I struggle with low back pain and had no issues caused by the pack. It was fully comfortable & functioned well. For those of you who like prints & unique colors, I purchased the Magnolia Print in Jubilee Blue. The blue is kind of a slate muted blue. It's pretty & fun! They had other colors & prints I considered too. If you backpack alone, this pack is not large enough for overnight trips. I also think it's not quite large enough for today's high school/college students who carry at least 3 books, notebooks, computer, & backpack. It may be fine for elementary students if their 3-ring binder fits.

Rugged little day pack

Love this day pack. small -compact. Great for air travels and boating day usage-fishing for day snacks, gloves and hat etc. Not a lot of pockets (3-4) but, exactly what I needed. Car-house keys retainer clip for secure retrieval (Finding). 2 side pockets for drinks (Nalgene) bottles or cans.

Amazing Minimalist Climbing Gym Bag

Great minimalist climbing gym bag! At 13 liters it is really small, which is ideal for my purposes but keep in mind if it'll work for you. I ride my bike to the gym, and this bag is so much lighter than the cheapo bag I used before and breathes so much better. No more sweaty back when I get to the gym Inside main compartment I've got harness, chalk bag, monkey tail length of rope for practicing clipping, and a U lock. Secondary compartment has snacks, rudimentary first aid supplies (nonstick pads, antibacterial ointment, climbers tape, lil scissors, bandaids, kurlex roll). Water bottle compartments hold the larger size hydroflask in one and my jumprope in the other. Shoes clipped to the compression straps. My only quibble is that the compression straps are totally unnecessary for a bag this size and if anything get in the way. Would rather have a loop or two to clip things to the back. But other than that I have no complaints.

little small for what I need, otherwise great bag

I bought this bag to take along with me for my field bio class that'd usually last about 8 hours. I'd usually have two 32 oz bottles, a clipboard, rope, binoculars, lunch/snacks, keys/wallet and sun protection that'd be able to fit in my bag. I'd be able to strap a quadrat or transect to the outside with the buckles. With the bottles in the side pockets, it was hard to take things in and out of the main compartment. It also never really fit a jacket on days that I'd need one in the morning, so I'd have to tie it somewhere. Good for day hikes and I use it at my camp education job, but invest in something slightly bigger if you're using it for a class

Perfect fit for me to fill size void in my quiver.

I love this little pack. I have a 30L Talon Pro for long day hike, a 48L Kestrel for shorter backpack trips and an 85L Aether Plus for the longer backpack trips, so I needed one for shorter day hikes and this fit the bill. I also plan to take it on my backpack trips to have a day pack for excursions. I got a 1.5L bladder for it when I don't want to carry a water bottle. We recently did trip to AZ and this pack was perfect for the 2-5 mile hikes around petrified NP, saguaro NP and hikes around Sedona. It wasn't too hot yet in late March, so a huge bladder wasn't necessary. Straps are just thick enough if you have some weight in it and the waist strap comes in handy for a little trail running or scrambling.

Handy and compact

I bought this daypack as it was on sale and I would say it is of excellent build and material. Not as light as I would have thought but very handy and compact. It has an option for hydration bladder but I don't use that. Instead you can fit inside the main compartment a small packable jacket, some snacks, a tablet (maybe a small laptop computer), up to 2 average size water bottles or beverage containers on the sides(nice stretchy material to keep them snug). Shoulder and waist traps are convenient for long hikes. There is also a secret whistle(for emergency alert). friendly as it is small enough you can pack it in your check-in luggage. I highly recommend it for travel and day trips.

Great day bag

Great bag for hiking and travel. I have hiked with it multiple times and flown with it multiple times and I am pleased with it. It's the perfect day bag or carry on. I have no issues with the handle on top that some people have complained about. I find the handle to be useful and practical and don't notice it when I have it on my back. I also don't know why some people have said this bag is not big enough for a day hike. Unless you like to pack everything and the kitchen sink, this is more than enough for a day hike. I fit a rain jacket, a patagonia nano puff jacket, standard nalgene, phone, wallet, keys, sunglasses, snacks, and a 1 day first aid kit for 2 people and I only had this bag half full.
