Excellent Quality And Design!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Things I like: Attention to detail regarding zippers, seams, material used for the tent, fly and vestibule. The vestibule is a huge plus to bring in the chairs and stove when it rains. I set it up by myself in about 20 minutes. I have owned a few tents from other quality manufacturers and none of them exceeded the quality of the Wawona 6. I don't like the carry bag, it is too small so I replaced it with a larger duffle.
Excellent Protection / Sturdy Material
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I use a 10 MM tarp as well as the footprint for best protection. It fits as expected.
Does not fit - Tent dimensions change based on season
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought the Wawona 6 tent spring 2020. No footprints were available at that time. I finally found one the following year and thought it would fit. Very frustrating that North Face changes tent dimensions season to season but does not indicate this when buying accessories. So the new footprint I purchased does not fit the previous season's tent. We live on the west coast, camp year-round in the rain so a footprint is absolutely necessary. This is an already bulky tent to haul around, I hate that I now need to bring a poly tarp because the spring 2020 footprint is no longer available. Disappointed.
Perfect Fit and Added "Door Mat"
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The footprint is excellent with the Wawona 6. The tabs on the end of the tent poles are long enough to go thorough the grommets on the tent, the rain fly and the footprint, which keeps everything in place even for longer camping trips and during summer thunderstorms. Also, not pictured in the product images is an awesome "door mat" that folds out, which can align with either the front or back door, giving a nice place to put your shoes and helps to keep dirt and debris out of the tent. I get a footprint to help extend the life of every tent i buy, but i think this one went above and beyond.
Room to stand up, AMAZING vestibule!
We were looking either for a Kaiju 6 or Wawona 6 for a year and having a hard time finding it due to the RONA. When we found the new Wawona 6 at our local REI, we got it. It had plenty of room and we have already used it for several nights in Death Valley National Park, and will probably spend 20-30 more nights in it over the summer. It is a huge tent, and packs down relatively small for it's size, thanks to the partial coverage of the rainfly only covering mesh areas. The large vestibule is GREAT. -1 for TNF not including the footprint. A $70 extra expense on something many people would not consider optional....just through it in and adjust the price accordingly. And the footprint was harder to find than the tent was. But enough complaining about that. Great tent.
Too Large
I purchased two of these (2021 style) footprints this spring along with two (2021 style) Wawona 6 tents. Both footprints are slightly larger than the tent and the straps made to stake them out to the tent with are too long resulting in the footprint not sitting snugly centered under the tent. Because of their larger size, a considerable amount of water collects between the footprint and the tent in a rain storm. I contacted TNF about it and they just said they would look into it. Also, for $65, TNF could have included a little stuff sack for the footprint. What a disappointment.
No stuff sack.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] For the cost of this footprint, I expected a stuff sack whould have come with it. It just came in a plastic bag rolled up. Seems like it'll do its intended job.
Should've come with the tent
It's a big tarp, it probably should have been included with the tent, but what can you do. It is sliiiightly larger than the tent itself, enough to be a little annoying because it doesn't perfectly match up, but it hasn't hindered its use at all. The mat in front for shoes is nice and big as well, like that aspect of it.
Seems decent but doesn’t fit
I bought this footprint for my wawona 6 single wall tent (which has now been replaced by a double wall) and the dimensions do not fit. This is unacceptable for a $65 footprint designed for an exact match to your tent. The size is about 114 x 93 (not counting strap to guide pole). North face needs to distinguish between their different versions of the wawona 6. It’ll be going back.
Perfect fit and easy to dry
We've almost always used tarps for our footprints before, partly because we already own tarps and footprints are pricey. Nevertheless, we splurged on the footprint since we'd already splurged on the tent, and I'm glad we did. When I got home, it was a snap to hang the light and simple footprint out to dry. Because we had the footprint, the bottom of the tent did not get wet, and I was glad I didn't have to hang the massive orange whale out to dry.
