Cools and protects, no joke
I was skeptical but now don’t leave for a hike without these. They keep my hands protected from sun damage without sunscreen and they actually keep my hands cooler. It is really important to get the right size—they should fit a bit snug so the wicking magic can work and you will be amazed at the difference in temperature especially in sunny situations.
Perfect for Warm Season Kayaking
I like these gloves so much! I use them for kayaking - great sun protection, nice to have my fingers out, and the little grip bumps are perfect for keeping my paddle from slipping. They are lightweight, quick-dry, comfy, easy to put on and off. This is my second pair - the first lasted about 5 years. I paddle a couple hundred miles during the warm season...so they do hold up. I take care of them, and wash now and then. I bought them slightly big, so that when wet or I'm in my boat I can easily slip them on, but not so big as to be sloppy. (small fit fine, but medium gave me a bit more room and comfort).
everyone else was jealous of my gloves!
I bought these because I prioritize sun coverage and almost always trek or hike in long sleeves. I quickly found that my hands were impossible to keep covered or sunscreened so I went searching for a pair of activewear gloves. This OR pair wasn't the original pair I thought I would get but I went to REI to try a few on and found that these were the best choice I hadn't even considered! Wearing them for my recent trek kept my hands safe from sun damage while giving the bonus of managing the sweat from my hands and improving the use of my trekking poles! They got remarkably dirty but held up really well from a machine wash & air dry!
Changed material from 2 years ago
Have had the previous iteration for 2 years - soft comfortable material & fit. This version is a different material & tighter (uncomfortable) fit. Spoke to Outdoor Research Customer service who confirmed product has been 'updated' / 'enhanced' - Cannot recommend this product - yet a another company dumbing down a great product to pad their bottom line!
Another product that delivers!
Got to use these for the first time, initially bought for sunny days fishing when hands tend to burn during a long day out. Found an unexpected use during stormy weather, they are quick to dry and add a little warmth too! My new wild berry picking gloves.
gave me a logo tan line after 4 hours
I'm a field biologist and spend 40-60 hours per week in the sun, so I got these to protect my hands. These gloves gave me a tan line of the logo (see photo) after only 4 hours in the sun. Doubt they're actually SPF 50+. Would not buy again.
My favorite sun gloves
I love these sun gloves. I have two pairs: Small and Medium. The Small fits just fine, but I purchased a 2nd pair in a Size Medium for longer day hikes in the heat. I mostly hike at the Dry Forest in Puerto Rico and it gets HOT, so my hands and feet swell. As a reference, I wear a size Small in REI and Sunday Afternoons Sun Gloves, both brands run larger than OR. My wrist measures 5 1/2 inches and I wear a 4.5 US engagement ring.
New Summer essential
Just got a pair of these for summer hiking and cycling and have found they really help keep hands cool and block sun. Using them with sun sleeves on bike and they work perfect. For hiking, using with long sleeve sunblock shirt and they add sun blocking comfort with or without trekking poles, umbrella. Very impressed with these gloves as they have been a major component for extending my hiking season into the high UV season. Stretchy fit is very good and gloves are easy to put on and take off. I purchased these at a REtaIler but these are just too good not to leave a recommendation. Now that they are back in stock here, might be purchasing an additional pair.

Hole After First Wear
I purchased these for driving. After my first 20 minute commute with these on there was already a hole between the thumb and index. The rubber grips also stick pretty bad to the leather on my steering wheel.
Great coverage but not durable at all
I bought these a year ago and have taken them on half a dozen short backpacking trips. I had read they weren’t very durable so I hand washed them every time. I noticed there’s a hole already… not built to last
