Great Gore Tex Jacket, waterproof, windshield yet breathable
This was my worst shopping experience, I didn't expect to buy a piece of clothing without a hang tag and worn! I clearly purchased a women's S size foreage; But he sent me a men's size S tatsu! The two colors are completely different, and there are no hang tags, as well as multiple stains!
I love this jacket! It’s very well made and comfortable as well. I felt very protected from the wind and rain in it. The details of the hood cord for adjustability was perfect and it has pit zips too so, I can adjust my internal temperature as well. I wore it several times for a few hikes and around town on errands. The fit was nice but, I do believe it runs a tad small. I’m 5’ 8” and wearing a large. It fits but, I’d like a tiny bit more room for layering. The length of the jacket was great! The only item I would note is the noise it makes. It had a distinct “crinkle” sound. I thought it would lighten up as I wore it more but, I don’t think it has. It is a great jacket though and I would recommend it, for sure!
This is my second beta Arcteryx rain jacket. I walked 500 miles Camino Francis 2019…. Just heading out to Portugal in 6 days to walk Camino Portugal 450 miles. This jacket is perfect as a rain jacket, wind breaker or just keeping you warm, covers your backside, hood has elastic to fit your head, armpit zippers are a bonus to let air in when you’re trekking. Expensive?????? Oh yes, but if you keep checking, they eventually go on sale, then use your rebate it’s reasonable…… buy it if you can….
I own many Arcteryx items, so I am a fan. But when it comes to versatility in outdoor activities such as hiking, this jacket is definitely one of my favorites. I took it for a 10 miles hike in the National park in SF Marin, weather tends to fluctuate, cold and chilly to start, warm and sweaty during mid hikes, and chilly again at the end or when inside the forest. This jacket helped keep me warm and shield away wind, yet when I was sweaty, I was able to zip down the armpit to air out which helps cool off and not needing to take off the jacket. After all the scrambling through the bushes, this jacket did not show signs of wear! I love this one.
I bought this jacket to do the C2C trail across England. I figured it would rain and I wanted a good quality jacket. I sized up so I have plenty of room to layer. It is comfortable and I don’t feel sticky in it. A great wind breaker. However the day we walked in steady rain all day showed that this is not waterproof. The sleeves leaked especially were my arms bent to hold my poles. After a couple hours we had to go back out in the rain for a short walk to a pub and my jacket was so wet I had a line of wet across my dry pants.
I purchased this jacket hoping to stay dry on long hikes/bushwhacks/backpacking trips, and for that purpose, it's great! I loved the burgundy color- it's beautiful. The two issues I had were: 1. The pockets are situated so that they are unreachable when wearing a backpack with a waist strap. They are too low and everything you put in the pocket sits under the waist strap. If you were using it for climbing, the pockets would be right under the harness... 2. There is no inside pocket. Only two pockets total. For this price, most other brands come with at least another inside pocket or two! Ultimately, I returned the jacket because without the above features, it's not worth it for the price.
I bought this jacket several years ago and liked it until the hem started to deteriorate. When I sent it in for repair or replacement I was told it could not be fixed but they would only offer a gift card for a fraction of the cost of the jacket. So be prepared when you spend this kind of money they won’t stand behind their product. It’s the last time I invest in an Arc’teryx product.
This jacket was a big splurge, but I do not regret it. The Beta LT is a beautiful mauve color which is a nice alternative to black. It is very warm but light and packable. The hood is perfectly large to fit over my winter hats and can be tightened as needed. The sleeves have a Velcro adjustment at the cuff which was very easy to use even with big winter gloves on. The pit zips are an amazing feature to help control the heat, they zip in both directions which is a really useful feature. I found the small to be a perfect fit, flattering but a little roomy so I can fit layers underneath. I have used in the wet snow and found it to be waterproof - looking forward to seeing how it does in the rain. I will be using this layer for all 4 seasons of hiking.
I quite literally use this jacket for every season. It's light enough to use as a summer windbreak and durable enough to use in the snow. If you're out in the downpour for an extended period (like an hour), it'll eventually start to soak through, which is completely reasonable. For average rain situations, it works like a charm. I typically wear a small but bought a medium to allow for extra space to layer underneath.
