Received two DOA Units
I've owned many Goal Zero products over the years. The initial shipments of the 1500x were a disaster. Notice how Goal Zero has removed customer reviews from it's website. The first 1500x arrived arrived depleted and would not charge, which was later revealed to be a flaw in the low voltage cut off system. Goal Zero later shipped an additional high voltage charger to "wake up" the unit after a low voltage shut down. The replacement unit I received had a gaping whole in the back, but the box was fine. Goal Zero agreed to a refund several weeks ago but the required Lithium shipping box has not arrived. Customer support doesn't hide the fact that many units are being returned.
yeti 1500x multiple failures
bought in sept/22 to run our tv/sat setup which draws 150watts. added the extra battery which was charged by the mppt solar charger from solar panels. 1st failure was the plug from the battery to the module which melted, this was v2. this was a known problem with their v1. the module was supposed to draw 750 watts from the battery but it was drawing 823 watts, see photo. they quickly replaced the module and plug. 2nd failure was it got stuck in the update loop which none of the normal rebooting would fix. finally found the fix which required opening the case and unplugging the screen first and then the battery ec8 plugs. it fixed the problem but is very daunting with all the wires in there. 3rd failure was the usb out, it stopped working 4th failure is the 120v out. It is now giving the “overload” error even with nothing plugged in. battery profile is balanced. Battery is charged. None of the rebooting techniques can fix this so its going back to factory.

Buyer beware of Goal Zero
Purchased this Yeti 1500X as a solution for running smaller items while boondocking in our travel trailer. The 1500X has great power and ran all of the items that were necessary. Solar charging was great, but only worked for the first charge. The 1500X stopped accepting a charge via 120VAC, solar and 12V inputs. Complete failure of the system. Goal Zero's customer service is less than satisfactory. REI's customer service, however is stellar! Glad I purchased this through REI because you will get no where with Goal Zero. For this failure after first recharge, I give this product 1 star rating.
Plenty of power for camping or power outages.
I purchased the first Goal Zero 1500X for camping and after everything was prepared and ready to go I tested the fully charged 1500X and to my surprise it read 0%. I made sure I charged the unit before use and I was very frustrated and disappointed when my brand new 1500x failed before I could even use it. After my camping trip I went back to REI to exchange the 1500X for another one. So far the second one I have received is performing as intended.
Easily the best money I’ve ever spent.
When I’m working on set this battery pack powers my computer, monitor - charges camera batteries etc for a full 12 hours - It’ll last a lot longer but being able to trust something has enough power to get you through all that is amazing. Sometimes I’m running an external graphics card & the Yeti 1500x makes it all possible. No more do I need a building with power to do my job this opened up so many doors for new business and possibilities. When I’m not working, the the Yeti 1500x will power my entire telescope, laptop & mobile hotspot easily all night. Tracking stars, capturing images, keeping the Astro camera sensor chilled to -20c, relaying the images back to base camp so I don’t have to stay up all night getting devoured by mosquitoes. I even used it earlier today to power a saw while building a skateboard ramp haha this is the perfect size to get everything I need done. Paired with the super charger they make, it’s a no brainer.

Great for photographers
I do a lot of traveling in a van with my photography gear, and always need camera batteries, phones, and laptops to be charged. This one has been awesome since I can charge it 3 ways - a 100w flexible solar panel on top of rooftop carrier, the Goalzero 12v charger while driving, and plugging into 220v outlet. We also run a 12v fan off it all night which only uses 3% of its power, and we power our Instantpot. It runs down quick if using a small 300w electric heater, but that's expected. It's also easy to bolt down in the van to hopefully keep it from killing us if we got in a wreck.
Doesn't Charge
Picked up at store 9-1-2020, didn't get around to opening until 9-3-2020, and there was no charge. I called Goal Zero. They determined they have to send me some other attachment to charge that was sent out 9-4-2020. Today is 9-16-2020 and I am still waiting. The extra plug(?) attachment went from Utah to Las Vegas to Honolulu, and I am waiting - still - in NJ. It was supposed to arrive on 9-14, then 9-15, and now 9-16 has passed. The package is coming from Prostar, which I had to call to confirm that this is Goal Zero. If this extra plug thing isn't here by 9-21-2020, the $2K+ purchase is being returned.
fairly decent axolotl life support system
I’ve been thinking about this for extended camping trips for years but finally necessity made it happen. We were moving from Philly to Denver and decided to camp our way across i90. The problem was that we had to transport out axolotl. Maintaining 65F in a 30 gallon tank on a 95 degree day is tough. We had the tank pump, a chiller and a dometic refrigerator/freezer attached, as well as the occasional cell phone. A full charge got about 5-6 hours with all this attached. You would obviously get much more life out of a full charge if not running 3 pumps. We had to get creative with finding power sources mid-day. Fun fact, most restaurants with A/C have a service receptacle installed nearby. I purchased three accessories. The rapid charger: absolutely necessary for doing something like this. Will allow you to get half a charge while eating lunch. The car charger: we used this while driving and couldn’t tell the difference. Maybe with a smaller load it would be more useful. The protective container: Garbage. The battery overheats too fast when using it. If you do buy it do not fast charge with it. Overall great product. 4stars because of the case and the obnoxious flashing charging light which I had to watch for 31 hours.

Bigger invertor runs my entire 28' camping trailer
We first used the Yeti 1500X on a trip to the Tetons. The bigger 2000 watt inverter in the Yeti 1500X runs my entire trailer including the TV, & microwave while recharging the house batteries without missing a beat. I paired it with the new GZ Nomad 200 solar panel which charges it much faster (~25%) into the integrated MPPT port compared to the previous GZ Yeti 1400. I also like that the wall charger that comes with it charges the unit in 1/2 the time compared to the previous Yeti 1400 model. Nice upgrades!
Worked until the firmware update crahsed it
I was happy with the product, but after the first firmware update the battery now is 1) impossible to connect with through wifi and 2) bluetooth, and most importantly 3) won't charge. Customer support validated my attempts to fix it but with zero success towards our goal. I'll be getting another sent out and will likely never update the firmware once the two year warranty has passed. A bit frustrated they didn't test their firmware better.
