I’ve been buy PI jerseys for decades, and the “large” has always been a perfect fit (5’10”, 180). I can’t even get this jersey zippered. I assumed I was sent the wrong size, but the tag and the shirt say “large”. Not sure if this is an mis-marked item or a new sizing strategy for PI.
Most cycling clothing is built for tall, skinny guys, but Pearl Izumi finally realized that not all guys are 6 feet tall. Colors are bright, fabric is breathable.
Like other reviewers, I have worn PI forever. I’m 5’7 37” in chest/ currently 155 pounds. Average to athletic build. In my younger days I was about 135 to 140. Always wore a small in PI road biking and occasional med in Mtn biking tops. I consulted size chart for this top. I measure at the high end of small so as it should be form fitting I tried on a small. SM was impossible to even get close to zipping, and equally tight in the shoulders, arms, etc felt like an extra small everywhere! Chart showed low end of a medium, but tried that on and still too tight everywhere. A large worked as form fitting, but even then, I decided on an extra large to be a little more comfortable as I plan on doing a fair amount of gravel/mountain biking . (Extra large is a little loose but I still ride with the zipper half down most of the time) I have never worn anything close to a large in ANY men’s clothing, much less extra large! A medium should’ve fit fine chart wise, which is what I wear in essentially every piece of men’s clothing I own. I don’t know if this was due to errors in tagging on a particular production run or what but for me to go up two sizes for form fitting and three sizes for relaxed comfort is absolutely nuts! So if you can try on in the store, I highly recommend going that route. If not I would order one to two sizes up. Typical PI great quality otherwise things are so far off. It seems like this was again a production error, and maybe things have been corrected.
