WTB  Raddler TCS Light/Fast Rolling Tire

This product is not available. Good news: we have a newer version.

An excellent choice for unpredictable roads and trails, the Raddler TCS Light/Fast Rolling tire combines the supple traction of a high-volume gravel tire with the rolling efficiency of short-knobs.

Features

  • Dual DNA compound mixes a low-profile centerline of firmer rubber for faster rolling and increased durability with softer, slower-rebounding side knobs for control and grip
  • Semi-slick design cuts down rolling resistance while still providing ample bite for out-of-the-saddle pedaling
  • Slightly taller overall knob height compared to the original Riddler increases tire lifespan and provides cornering confidence without reducing rolling efficiency
  • TCS (Tubeless Compatible System) is the WTB-designed standardized tubeless rim/tire system designed to meet international ETRTO standards and ensure reliable performance
  • TCS Light/Fast Rolling casing is supple, gram-conscious and designed to be compliant while still trail worthy; single 60 tpi ply saves weight
  • Conditions: dirt, loose, rocky, wet

I purchased and installed the 700x44C version of these tires on my Giant Revolt Advanced 3 gravel bike. This bike has the Giant P-X2 Disc wheelset. I've had these for about 2 weeks now and put about 150 miles on them. While I cannot speak to longevity just yet, I can say that: 1.) The traction on most trail and off-road surfaces is the best I've ever felt on a gravel or road bike tire. It is easily comparable to a mountain bike tire. The only time I've EVER experienced any slippage or loss of traction is in moderate to deep sand, such as beach sand. The tire excels at riding over dirt, large gravel rocks, small gravel rocks, thin sand, mud, quicksand type mud, and more. Not only this, but I've ridden in some of these conditions on extremely steep grades such as 35% and the tires still did not slip! Note that WTB advertises the PSI can be set anywhere from 25-50PSI on these. My tests were conducted at 35-40PSI; I could arguably have gone even lower but I already had great results at those PSIs and I weigh 170lbs. 2.) The tires when inflated at PSIs above smooth the ride out when compared to my previous Giant Crosscut Gravel 1 tires. These WTB Raddlers can be run at lower tire pressure than those, and produce a noticeably smoother ride on tough terrain. 3.) With these tires, I am able to reduce hand pressure on my handlebars, and they will cause the bike to glide over gravel and larger rocks with little to no control effort. I think the problems that folks have mentioned with regards to air leaks and flats may have to do with the relationship between their rims and the tires, which is why I specifically stated above which rims I have so you know for compatibility. Also, I recommend getting a reputable bike mechanic to install these as they can be tough to install properly. I've attached a photo of the tires covered in mud from the trail as well as a video. Surprisingly, even with this much mud on them, I had no loss of traction and they were plenty grippy. Once the bike reaches speeds of 15-25mph, the mud will fly off of the tires anyway.

Mounted on DT Swiss C1800 with 2oz or Orange Seal. Tires are flat in 30 minutes. Stuck in a tub of water to see where they are leaking and it is the sidewall. Back to Maxxis Ramblers. Gave it 2 stars because it is advertised as Tubeless Ready but isn’t- still a good tire if you don’t mind running tubes.

my sidewalls bleed sealant and pressure

I enjoyed the way this tread pattern looked. bought 2 tires, and set them up tubeless with stans. the tires just bled the sealant out through the sidewalls every time I inflated the tires. if I didn't keep the pressure up in the tires over multiple days, they'd go completely flat and unseat. eventually I took a tire off and after topping off with a generous amount of sealant, it was all gone. it all leaked out through the sidewalls over time. a few weeks at most. now I'm running tubes until I wear these tires out. don't buy it you want to set up tubeless!

Great Gravel Tire

Bought a set of these 700x40 to replace the WTB Nanos that came with my 2019 Topstone. Took them out for a couple of 25 mile rides on mixed terrain road, gravel and chip seal. They have a nice smooth feel on road and plenty of bite on the loose stuff. So far I’m very happy and think they’re going to be great!

Good Gravel Tires

I got these after tearing up my more other tires on some freshly re-graveled1 roads (Bontrager GR1-comp. They roll well for their size and tread pattern and stand up to abuse better. I ride gravel road/paved road mix and the 44’s are a bit wide for my liking so i would probably go with 40’s next time.

good tires, hard to install

These tires are great for gravel and dirt trails but they are kind of thin walled and were tough to install. The tires were a bit large for my 700c rims and didn't seat easily. That said, they served me very well on over a hundred miles of rails to trails paths.

Excelent Clincher Tire

There tires have amazing grip, I used them on the sea to tree gravel loop and never skidded out. The only problem is that they are not tubeless no matter what people will say. Sealant was bubbling out of the front tire and both tires would need to be pumped up 1-2 times a day. P.S. the first set of tires I got one of them had a "slashed" sidewall. REI gladly took it back

weak side walls

I bought three of these. One for a back up. Two out of the three leak sealant from the sidewalls. It’s been a headache

Excellent upgrade

I have put 50 miles on these tires so far. I am liking the added grip that these tires offer. I train on sandy to gravel dirt roads so these are excellent. I am using tubeless and have had no issued so far. I am not experiencing any major leaking with the tubeless setup. I do air up before i ride usually at 45 psi.

Excellent tires

I bought these tires for my wife's bike. They are the first WTB tires I have ever bought, and honestly it was availability that played the biggest factor in my purchasing decision. I was replacing a BRAND NEW set of Maxxis Rambler tires which I mounted and dismounted several times but which would not mount straight. The WTB's mounted easily and straight as an arrow the first time. We are very happy with these tires and will definitely replace the with the same when the time comes.
