Mountain bikes, running, mountaineering, coffee strolls...

Seriously my new favorite piece of clothing I own. This jacket can be used in such a wide variety of conditions. MTB, mountaineering, running, Coffee shop strolls, WHATEVER! This pullover performs so well in everything. Drys super fast, fits under the bike helmet without any issues. Packs up into nothing, insanely comfortable. OR really killed it with this jacket. I'm tempted to buy a second as I'm afraid there won't be one around after run this first one into the ground.

An essential part of my wardrobe

I own 2 of the previous version of this shirt. I got the 2nd one because I feel that if I like a piece I should get another because "new and Improved" is often not as good for me. Well, OR hit back to back home runs with this one! The fabric of this one is even better than the last. It still has the fit and pocket that I like. I use these shirts with a ball cap or visor for hiking, rowing my raft, camping, and driving the convertible around almost any time I'll be in the sun for extended periods. As a 62 year old who has spent his life playing and working in the Northern Rockies, take care of your skin, it catches up with you.

My new favorite shirt!

Just picked up one of these for a multiday hike. It is incredibly thin and dries rapidly. I comfortably wore this down into the 50s without a base layer, though any lower required the use of an insulating layer. The 50 UPF rating is fantastic, and, in combination with a hat, I suffered no sunburn throughout my trek, which is a first. The shirt is surprisingly durable, and stood up to bushwhacking through briar patches, scrambling up granite embankments, and the constant friction of my pack. I plan on buying several more, and they have just become my go-to layer for any and all wilderness/mountaineering activities.

OR read my mind

This is a great multisport hoodie, it is lightweight, breathable and stretchy. It's very similar to the BD alpine start hoody. I think of this more like an ultralight softshell than a sun hoodie (I wear a sun hoodie under this layer) It makes a perfect multipitch jacket for summer climbing. It climbs and breaths really well and stuffs into its chest pocket. One area they could improve on is the chest pocket. It is really large so when you stuff it in its pocket the package is much larger than it needs to be. Its a trade off but i would prefer a smaller package hanging on my harness. I have also skinned in it a few times on some spring ski tours. I have been wanting an ultralight softshell like this and OR delivered!

4 stars: Great SPF, Ok material durability

Truly a great product. I've worn it climbing and hiking. It is exceptional at protecting me from the sun while not overheating. The only concern is some fuzz developing on the shirt from backpack friction. I was hoping this shirt would be a bit more friction resistant to prevent deterioration although it still gets the job done. Would be 5 stars if the material actually held up although this is mostly cosmetic. Perhaps this is a defect and OR can provide a new one.

My favorite

This is my favorite sun shirt I have ever used. Went through an entire summer of schwacking and choss in the cascades and is completely functional with zero holes (though a bit stained up with character). Very light and breathes great. The light blue is light enough to reflect most of the sun. More light colors of this would be my only suggestion. I'd love to see a white one for long days on glaciers.

Shocked how much I like this hoodie

The material is super thin, almost paper like, and a little stretchy -- and I'm saying that in a good way. I suppose I should know what the material is, but it's not like any other synthetic piece I own. For comparison, I have a patagonia sun hoodie. This is lighter and the 1/4 zip helps shed heat. I don't think it will be as prone to snag on branches as much as the weave in the patagonia. It breathes well and is comfortable against the skin. I wore it constantly while camping for bug protection and, although it's not treated, they didn't bite through it. I wore it 3 days in a row, without any stink factor never feeling the need to change it out. The XXL hangs perfectly on me, I'm 6' and 235 lbs. with enough breathing room and the sleeves and cuffs, torso length, and hood are just right. I haven't tested the sun protection yet, but have no doubt it will excel at it's primary purpose.

Great for All Season

Versatile!!! this best describes this hoody for hikes because its great to wear in the summer so your arms stays covered from the sun and you can easily roll it up if feeling hot and its great in the winter to wear and breaks great against the wind. In the winter, wearing this before your insulated jacket is great because then you have a hoodie to use in case your insulated jacket doesnt have one.

Perfect sun hoodie

Perfect sun hoodie. I used this piece all summer at the pool and on vacation on the Yucatan. It's light and you won't overheat in hot climates, which is the bane of sun shirts. There is also a good bit of stretch that helps in the comfort category. I own three different OR sun hoodies and this is my favorite. I can't speak for the hood because I use a hat when I'm really combating the sun.

I love this hoodie!!

I love this hoodie!! I am out in the sun and on rivers a lot, and have a number of these lightweight, hooded "sun shirts." Most of them get pretty stinky, and some have stretched out from use, but the fabric for this one seems like it would do neither. Fit is pretty perfect, and I especially like the fabric hooks on the cuffs and the pocket on the chest. Nice work, OR!
