Deficient fabric quality
I love Arc'teryx and I wear a lot of their garments. They are one of the few companies where I don't need to read reviews prior to a purchase because I know their commitment to quality. This jacket seems to be the only exception to that rule. The fabric seems to have started rolling into tiny balls of lint. It started under the arms but it slowly has extended to the point where it doesn't look sleek anymore. I saw a few posts here where that same issue was noted. So I am surprised to see that at this point they haven't switched the fabric provider and they have even added some new colors.
Thank you for taking the time to touch base with us, Marco. We're genuinely sorry to hear about your experience with the Vinton jacket. Merino Wool blend garments, as well as any natural fibre fleece, will have the tenancy to pill over time. We would recommend to wash it inside out to prevent this. I can see that you fill out a Product Service Request form with us - This is great! Our team will be happy to help you out with your product. Feedback is very valuable for other customers as well as our designers and we thank you for taking a moment to share yours. I will be certain to pass this along to our design team for consideration. Kindly,
Looks nice but poor material
The fabric started pilling everywhere after a short time of wear. The fit is really nice and I love the colour but I didn't expect this. All my other Arc'teryx stuff is great but this jacket is not worth the money, unfortunately.
Hello Jobert, Thank you for providing your feedback. I’m sorry to hear that you had a negative experience with this jacket. We’d love to take a closer look at what’s going on and see what we can do to help. Looks nice, nice colors, No thanks
In my opinion, people who are attracted to wool garments, like myself, are trying to get away from having polyester close to the skin. For this reason the interior lining should include wool as at minimum, one component of a hybrid makeup. Pure polyester always feels clammy when wetted out, regardless of claims to the contrary. I suggest working on a true wool fleece, that is where the name for synthetic "fleece" originates. Do you want to make a wool jacket for people who like the wool "look", or for those us who like to feel a fully woolly experience ?
Great Look and design but not durable
Ive had this for a couple months and within a very short time i noticed my arm sleeves were piling and balling into little balls under my forearms. This material has very little abrasion resistance. I only wear this around town and i have a hole already in the left side along my waist. I have no idea if it was there before but it def is there. Seriously i haven't done anything outdoorsy in a year now lol. I am not putting my gear thru the ringer. It seems i am running into major quality defects in my gear from this falls line already. Its sad when you pay 2x the competition but get 1/10 the life of patagonia. I have strange fabric imprints midway down the front zip. I noticed that is due to fusing of the fabric for the pocket inserts. This indentation was a tradeoff that i allow. Style wise and the colors used this piece is so nice to wear, the lines are slick and tailored well. Arc has the best tailoring in the business. I do not get off on posting bad reviews for my favorite brand but lets be honest here, some bad calls were made.
Can't help but look good in this jacket
The minimalist look of this jacket gets me plenty of compliments. It's got that excellent Arc'teryx cut that fits well and also moves with you on your bike commuting. I find it comfortable to wear over a shirt and under an outer layer.
Good design, not so good fabric
Started getting too linty just after first wash. Like others said, this item has good minimalistic design but fabric is meh. Definitely not worth the price. FWIW, Arcteryx covert cardigan seems like a good alternative to this item.

Excellent fit, as ever, but showing signs of bobbling
Lovely Jacket in terms of colour, fit and feel, excellent cuff shape, and arm, shoulder and body shape for cycling. Very flattering, and moves exceptionally well.
Everyday Use
Overall the jacket is exactly what I had wanted it to be! Have received a plethora of compliments on how clean the jacket looks / how the jacket is cut!
Sleek Design for Great Versatility
This is almost the perfect, multi-use city jacket. Warm for the autumn/winter in the city but breathable enough via the merino fabric to make it really nice as a walking jacket for the autumn or spring. Cut supremely well, it offers a slightly more square shape than some of Arc'teryx's other pieces, but lacking the same stretch it makes it a great fit for guys like me, still slightly in denial they no longer have the athletic body of their younger years! Combined with the panel construction, it creates a stylish, sleek and slimming look, making this a really comfortable yet supremely stylish everyday piece in my wardrobe. On top of this, it packs a nice breathable element to it, making it very well suited for cycling commutes or hiking. I was on the welsh coast last autumn, and it became my go-to for those days where it was a bit fresh and the first signs of cold were starting to creep in. However, as others have well pointed out, whilst being a good piece, it falls just shy of being great. The fabric does indeed begin to pill up, particularly in areas prone to abrasion such as under the arms, and on colours other than black this does show up quite badly. The integrity of the jacket is not affected, but it is not ideal for a brand of such quality. Finally, the cuffs on the wrist, whilst being ingenuously ergonomically shaped to 'avoid' the thumb and palm heel, are taped; this means that there is no give whatsoever, rendering it impossible for me to roll or push the sleeves up away from the wrist. For a guy like me that runs extremely hot, this is an essential in pretty much every shirt, fleece or jumper that I buy. It's an extremely annoying and, actually, somewhat disappointing that a jacket of this quality can be knocked back a peg by this feature given the brand's commitment to quality of design. Whilst I will admit only a minor gripe, something important to bear in mind if you, like me, need to be able to roll the sleeves up. Overall, though, this remains a high quality bit of kit - sleek and well cut enough for me to wear as non-performance fleece about town, but technical enough that I can take hiking as the weather begins to turn and it will be super comfortable.
