Great jacket. Runs a bit small.
I wanted a thin, breathable soft shell that is really good at keeping the wind out and I got it. It looks great too. My only complaint is that I can usually fit into mediums okay and larger tend to be a little big. I got this in large and it’s still a bit tight in the shoulders. My shoulders are not overly broad either.
Size Up
Before anything else: size up. Really. Other reviewers said this runs small by a lot. They are right. They’re right about the shoulders, too. It’s cut narrowly. I got a Medium. For reference, I’m an XS in Patagonia’s Capilene line and an S for jackets. I typically swim in mediums. This fits great with a couple of 400gsm merino base layers underneath. I can do a mid layer too. A thick, fluffy fleece? No. But something reasonable. The arms are the limiting factor there. That said, this isn’t meant for stuffing a bunch of layers underneath and sitting around. It’s a shell meant for a high activity level. One chest pocket. One horizontal pocket in the back above the hips. No hand pockets. Very streamlined. It’s designed for snow sports, but it’s essentially a drop tail windbreak layer for road biking. I could use it for that no problem.
Wrong Sizing!
I take a medium in just about everything--this was waaaay too tight. It should have been called a small.
