Absolutely beautiful jacket when you see it (I bought white/black), but the quality is subpar. I expected better from Obermeyer. I'm not a picky shopper but I had to exchange it within less than a month, wearing maybe 5 times to work (I sit at a computer all day, so I wasn't doing anything active). The stitching came out on the inside of the left cuff. The velcro on the outter placket snags on EVERYTHING. I had to buy velcro and cut it to cover the outer velcro, yet it still finds a way to snag stuff. And now one of the buttons that connects the fur to the hood broke off. This jacket is nothing but a pain.
I got this to take the Iceland and has my new winter jacket, it has been amazing. Of course with layers for Iceland but for MI winters it has been great. I love all the pockets and removable fake fur. I hate the fur stuff when it’s going to rain but like for windy days. Has kept me warm all winter long and have had it now for about a year and no issues with rips or broken zippers. I have used and abused this jacket and cannot recommend enough.
I absolutely love this Jacket! I was able to try it on at the store and glad I did. I decided to size up two sizes so I could layer. I am always cold and this jacket keeps me warm in the 20° weather. I also wear base layers but this has been my go to and favorite winter jacket! I highly recommend it! I normally would wear a size 8 and purchased a size 12.
I absolutely love this jacket! I tend to get cold easy but not in this warmer! I wore it on a 34-38 degree day doing field work and hiking around. As the temperatures dropped I stayed warm. I wore a base layer and light vest underneath. It rained a bit and I stayed dry. After dark we stood around chatting and I noticed everyone shivering in their layers. I was not. I wore this jacket on a warmer cool weather 60+ day and found it too warm when I was more active. This jacket will be great for snow days and anything below 50. I wear medium and found this jacket runs true to size for my figure at 5'8" and 155 lbs. Bonus soft velvet around the neckline!
I was hesitant to purchase a jacket online so I double checked my measurements and used the size chart. For reference, I'm 5'5, 155, wear a 6 in pants, M/L shirt and am a 32 DD. Other reviews said it ran small, so I ordered an 8. As soon as I put it on, it was immediately apparent that it was way too tight to keep. Just for giggles, I tried to zip it, and once I reached my chest, I stopped. The arms and shoulders were also too tight. There isn't much difference in sizes, so I'm ordering a 12 and hoping for the best. On the plus side, it's fairly heavy so it will be warm, and although I got black, I didn't see the cat hair that appears to multiply on its own like it does on some of my other jackets.
Super cute, fit perfectly, EXCEPT - I often use my hood when skiing. And the hood doesn't work well with a ski helmet. It pulls the coat up from the back. My kid has the kid's version of this jacket, and I asked her about it. She said (paraphrasing), "yes, it doesn't fit right, but I never use the hood, so not a problem." Well, it's a big problem for me, and I was really really sad that a ski jacket company out of Colorado makes a coat that doesn't work with helmets. LUCKILY, REI took the jacket for a full refund and were super understanding and kind about it. Because, I was truly bummed.
I bought this because I had a trip planned to Yosemite and a big snow storm hit the day before we were supposed to leave.. This jacket kept me warm the whole trip, on hikes and sight seeing.. There's no way I would have survived the snow storm with out it! Expensive, but so worth it!
I was initially concerned about this jacket because of some negative reviews but I am totally happy with my purchase. I normally wear a size small/medium or a 6/8 but based on other reviews, I ordered and kept sizes 10 and 12 for me and my daughter. I preferred the tighter fit although it’s a little tight across the chest/armpits. And I was regretting rolling around in the snow when a little snow went up my back. I could wear higher snow pants or wear my daughter’s size 12 next time. The jacket was super warm! I didn’t have any wet spots after rolling around in the snow nor after it snowed.
This jacket is a a nice weight and the color is great- exactly what was shown on the screen. Tons of pockets and super soft neck lining. I also love the sleeves- they're long enough that they don't ride up even when I raise my arms. I don't love the sizing, though. Like others have mentioned, the sizing runs extremely small. I'm 5'8" 170 and typically wear a 10. I bought a 14 and would have loved the option for a 16. In the 14, I can wear a tshirt or thin sweatshirt but not a thick sweater.
I bought this jacket because of the versatility and sustainability and I am not disappointed. I’ve stowed it in my carry on and thrown it on once arriving in 5 degree weather with it still looking great and keeping me warm. I’ve never had a jacket where the hood stays up whether I’m going fast or slow in windy conditions. The pockets are great for keeping gear close and there are tons of them - I found a new one just the other day. Definitely size up - I’m usually an 8, 5’9” and went with a 14. I can wear a big sweater under it and still have a full range of motion.
