Great Jacket but No Drawstrings!!!

Great Jacket, however it lacks some key features. I own this same jacket model from a couple of years ago and purchased the current one for my father. The biggest problem is the lack of a drawstring on the body. My older jacket had both a skirt and waist drawstring and helps enormously in keeping out cold air especially if you are a smaller build or skinny. This current model has no drawstrings on the body which prevents it from fitting as a proper winter coat should and leads it to being drafty. Might not be a problem if you are a large person but I see it as a serious flaw in an otherwise excellent jacket. This is probably a cost cutting measure but is very disappointing. Try it in person before buying if possible because without the drawstring it may feel like a wearing loose sleeping bag. Just a heads up.

Great Parka for the price

Took this coat hiking when the temp was 18F and 15 mph winds. Worked excellent with just a small base layer and flannel shirt. The coat was breathable, warm and wind proof. I’m 6’-0”, 165 lbs and the medium fit much better than the small. However, because it’s a relaxed fit, there’s a ton of room on the inside. I was worried this would make the coat drafty but it works excellent so far in all cold winter activities I’ve used it in so far. Sleeves and zipper work excellent (I have no idea what people beef is with the zipper). My only gripe for being 4 stars is the hood. When it’s zipped all the way up, there’s barely any room for my chin and makes it uncomfortable to look around. If they would have put more thought into a bigger hood (and a waist cinch) this jacket would be the bomb. But, got it on sale and you can’t beat the price.

Great Parka but not as warm as I expected.

After researching and reading the reviews I purchased this Parka. It has been a good to great warm coat and a true size fit. It is waterproof and warm and fits great. The only drawback for me is that it is not as described in the customer reviews and information I gathered from North Face. I always start with a long sleeve t-shirt and a long sleeve outer shirt. I have to start layering at 45 degrees to stay warm and another layer at 35 degrees. Other than not being as warm as I believed it to be it has been a good to great jacket.

Colder the better, but be mindful of size

This jacket is so comfy and warm, the colder the better for this coat. I will say though, it does run quite oversized. For example, I typically wear a large, but for this coat I wear medium. I have not worn a medium since middle school. I would suggest bumping down one size based on what you typically wear. Enjoy!

The hood and hood fastener are designed poorly

The hood is a key feature of any parka. The hood on this parka does not wrap evenly around the head (at least it didn't around mine!), and the hood fastener is difficult to close. When you are finally able to get it closed, the fastener presses up against your chin. When the fake fur is attached to the hood, it interferes with your vision and, quite frankly, makes you look ridiculous.

Better quality over competitors.

Purchased coat after researching and trying on similar coats from Eddie Bauer and LLBean both of which were cheaper but didn’t fit as well, and the Zipper and build quality were much better.

Fantastic fit!

Great fit and great insulation. Face covering as part of the hood doubles nicely as a mask

All the jacket you need in cold temps

Living in AK, you NEED a warm jacket. Once the temp hits at, or below, 0 F (oh, and add wind), THIS type of jacket is what you need. Fits well (has enough room for layers), plenty of pockets, and plenty of wind stop to eliminate ANY wind coming through. Well worth the money spent! :-)

Super Warm

Just walked my son to the bus and it's 18F out and I was super warm. The jacket is light and comfortable. If I was skiing I would find this jacktet to be bulky but for walking in the cold it's PERFECT!

For Big n Tall only

- sizing was meant for Big and Tall only. But tis was not mentioned anywhere in the description. Inaccurate information on product. The faux fur is not removable at all. Disappointed with the jacket.
