Very awkward fit. Ordered this in a Large (which I usually order and there’s always a little extra room), but it’s quite tight in the chest/shoulder area - in some areas it runs small. The worst fit is the arms are ridiculously way too long. The arms go beyond my hands. I have found REI brand jackets to be very inconsistent in their sizing. Even 2 jackets of the same style and size can sometimes fit very differently. My wife says the same is true fir the REI brand women’s jackets as well. It’s unfortunate as I do like the jacket and the price (on Sale) was nice, but I’ll definitely have to return it and buy a similar jacket in another brand.
I haven’t given this jacket the shake just yet - it arrived today. I ordered sky dive, and the color of what came is actually reversed from what is shown on the website. The outside of the jacket is bright blue, the inside darker. Heads up! It might be a little louder than I want, so I may take it back. Otherwise, seems like a fine jacket - I’m generally between a medium and large and am happy with how the large fits.
Fits a little big. Got an xl. I’m not a huge guy but have broad shoulders. Curious how a large would fit. Sleeves were a little long for me. Be nice if they were tight around the wrist to keep them above the hand. The top of the zipper fits a little weird when it’s all the way zipped up, hits my chin a lot. Would be better if it was a little shorter zip up or the neck was a little wider. I live in South Carolina so it’s not too cold but keeps me warm on the morning walks with the dogs. I got this on sale so I am happy with it but not sure how I would feel if I paid full price for it.
I typically wear a medium. Sleeves on this are a bit long and the cuffs are not tight enough for my liking. They are a bit loose so the sleeves slip down over my hands. Not a complete deal breaker but if I could, I would try a few on in person to see if I could find one that has tighter cuffs. Seems a little large overall to me so I ordered a small to compare and I will keep the one that fits best. Also, this has already been noted, the blue color is much brighter than shown.
Ive been impressed with the warmth and its pretty much exactly what i was looking for. Bought this instead of a patagonia nano puff. Seems to actually be a bit warmer than the nano puff but i could be wrong. Hopefully the durability proves to be good enough, and hopefully it doesnt lose its warmth too soon. My only complaint is that it doesn't have elastic cuffs that cling to my wrists. that would be a good touch. Looks good and works though. Keeps me warm with a normal hoodie and thin tshirt underneath at 30 degrees F, while not moving, standing still. Seems good enough for my virginia winters.
Saw the great sale price and took a chance on this, and wasn't disappointed. I didn't really need it, but glad I made the purchase. I think I will be wearing this a lot this winter. It does run a little small, but it's okay with a thin layer underneath. Has nice features you would expect (drawstrings, warm pockets, standard chest pocket). Hood doesn't detach, but it's not bulky so wearing without hood is not bothersome - a very packable jacket.
I bought this jacket line as far back as 2015. came and went a couple of times, I believe. What a great, comfortable and warm jacket. going to try and get another before the sale is over. I do think it runs a bit small so I just sized up.
Light weight and warm when you layer it. Fits nicely. I’m 6’0 and 175 lbs and a medium fits perfectly. Soft and comfortable. Can’t wait to try it out on a cold day hike....
This is a great jacket and is my second from this line. It packs small and light and is a great insulating layer on its own or paired with a light weight rain shell. One thing to note, the hood draw string is a little odd in that it cinches from the back center of the hood rather than the front sides. Once you get the hang of it though, its great!
I very much wanted to like this jacket. The price is awesome, quality of build is very good, it has an exterior chest pocket which is extremely convenient and has 2 waist drawstring closures instead of 1 which often becomes long and easy to get tangled. It also seemed slightly warmer than the Patagonia Nano Puff which I compared it to. Major downsides are the wrist cuffs are huge (Nano is snug) and don't block air travel while the hood cinches in such as way to still allow a lot of wind in and allows a lot of chin and cheek exposure (Nano is fitted tight, no draw cord and covers chin and cheeks). The neck area is tight and doesn't allow a lot of easy movement. I'm 6'3", athletic build and not bulging with muscles but I found the sleeves a bit tight at the arm pits and elbows while the body was on the slightly bulky side but helpful if you are wearing a vest underneath. I tested this wearing 1 thin base layer and 1 medium polypro zip neck and also just a base layer. This jacket was an XL which is my normal size with these layers. Length is a reasonable for everyday wear and while wearing a harness. A good jacket but if leaks too much air in the wrists and around the face for me to want to use in windy backcountry conditions.
