Have worn the Lofoten numerous times over the past month on my morning hikes in the foothills of Colorado. It’s comfortable, fairly warm for high output activities. (Many mornings I’m out and the temps are in the teens to low 20’s. Fahrenheit- with just a baselayer underneath and I’m sweating! Even with all the amazing ventilation. 2 way zips from pita to waist, plus a deep chest zipper. Lots of pockets which I love. Great jacket overall. My only complaints- are the “pit zips.” They’re very difficult to unzip down and up as they are very thin zippers. The hood is HUGE! Even for a helmet. And the visor is annoying. I just fold that under. The DWR isn’t great. I had to do it myself as water wasn’t beading off. Part of the shell material is fairly thin. I much makes it light but definitely not tough for rubbing against branches etc or even falling while skiing or boarding. Otherwise love it.
I bought this to have more breathability with protection in areas that commonly get wet. I found this jacket while watching a video from a Norrona team skier about not using Gore-Tex. This jacket has been used heavy powder days in Jackson Hole/Grand Targhee and east coast Icey jacket tearing groomer resort conditions. If the weather goes above 32 F, a t shirt is enough. I really like the idea of the mid section of the coat being highly breathable. Great functional coat that I highly recommend. Norrona really thinks through their designs! Well done! I do plan to get a Norrona hardshell to compliment this jacket on more severe days.
5’11” 185lbs, Large fits true to size. This piece is incredibly bombproof. It is incredibly water and wind resistant, but also breathable, and the full length side zips and deep center zip mean you can get it on/off easily, and quickly dump heat if you need to. It is my most versatile piece: it works as an outer layer for all but the coldest wettest conditions, when you need a true full hard shell. Meaning this works as an outer layer on 90% of days. On the coldest/wettest days, this piece is a killer insulating layer. The Primaloft 80 is incredibly warm. I got 2 of the colorways so far, but love them all. They look amazing around town too.
I bought this a month ago. It is the best 2nd/3rd layer I have ever had. I used for mountaineering and ski touring at cold and windy conditions. It kept me dry and warm during any situation and with the perfect temperature because of the high adjustable ventilation. The two big pockets on the front as well as the two pockets inside as well as the kangaroo pocket are perfectly fitted and highly functional. I highly recommend this anorak!
Superb mid layer jacket that either works under a shell for rougher days or as it is. The hood makes good room for the helmet and the kangaroo chest pocket is huge. Got told that the primaloft needs to sit tight to the body so don’t go to big. Although I did as I love the fit and wear it over everything, all day. Ventilation is good on sides and mid chest and helps when going uphill or shovelling the driveway. And oh, it looks amazing!
Tested several times in dry, cold and sometimes windy conditions. The jacket performs excellent! It has enough room for extra layers for the coldest days. Not tested in wet conditions, as I rely on a Norrøna gore-tex shell for those days. The colors are fresh and look great, and my kids can easily spot me in the slopes. Super happy with this!
Not only for skiën and ski touring. It is an awesome jacket. Easy to put on with the large running zippers, perfect for ventilation when running warm as I of do and still maintaining enough protection against the wind for not running cold at the same time. With this jacket you don’t need to take off and put on layers as you move. The zippers wil do the job. The quality of the jacket is as you expect from Norrøna. The pockets are plenty and well placed. My favorite jacket for all kind of activities. I liked it so much that I bought a second one in a different color. ( red and black).
I really like it for its heat-to-weight ratio. But it has officially become the jacket that I use on all the exits where the gore-tex is not indispensable. Warm more than you think but always able to breathe properly, comfortable pockets.
I was very impressed with this solution, it combines the characteristics of a softshell with a duvet, it becomes a jacket perfect for skiing when you want something warm and more breathable than a shell.
The jacket is warm and at the same time airy thanks to the many ways it can be opened. Many pockets and an inner pocket for an avalanche transceiver. As always, everything is very well thought out.
