Pricey but worth it
I bought the Ignik Gas Growler so I wouldn’t have to use disposable 1 lb cans - it’s difficult to find places that will recycle them, and I don’t want the hassle of refilling multiple reusable 1 bls cans for each camping trip. I used the gas growler on 8 car camping trips last summer and it worked great every time. I bought an extra hose & a splitter so can now run a Weber go-anywhere grill, Jetboil Genesis and Luna Satellite all at the same time. My local hardware store will refill it for ~$3. Take the bad reviews on here with a grain of salt – if you read them, they haven’t actually purchased or used the product and are posting product ‘reviews’ to complain about the price. Yes, you can create your own version of a system like this cheaper but if you want a high-quality padded case and can afford it then go for it!

Echo that it's a nice idea, but
I checked into what it would cost if I bought a similar item at the local hardware store. For $50 you can get the tank and the exact same hose! Maybe you can find a stuff sack here at REI to carry it in, but I doubt that will cost $100, just saying...

Not worth the money.

Not worth the money, you can get other brands for half the cost with a gauge which this one lacks. Also mine came in all scratched up even though it was in a case. The case is made out of a canvas like material that is off white. Whos idea was it to make an off white case for a propane tank. This this was dirty before the first use. I wish i never made this purchase. What a poorly designed item

Nice kit, a little pricey but nice regardless

Very nice and convenient kit, comes with the hose needed to connect to any Coleman stove/grill or any device that uses the 1lb green Coleman tanks. Happy to be rid of the Coleman tanks, at $10 a piece now this will pay for itself quickly. Cost me $5.54 to fill up at my local uhaul rental spot. Quick to pull it out of the case and connect the hose to get your grill or stove going asap.

Wish I would have bought this sooner!

Where has this been all my life? I purchased this to use while camping (along with an indoor safe buddy heater) and it has already almost paid for itself. I used my REI rebate check. It's environmentally friendly compared to single use canisters, which is an added bonus. My first fill up was under 7 dollars at the local propane store, so already saved over $40 dollars vs buying 5 single use propane canisters. It hooks up to my Coleman stove and buddy heater-and I can also use it for a backup for my home built in barbecue. I've had no issues with it. I recently returned from a beach getaway with friends and we also used this and the heater when it got cooler on the deck. I love this growler!

Kit is fine.

It’s a propane tank with a holder. I like that it’s all one unit because it makes it easy to pack. Mine came super banged up right from the box. Scratches and chunks missing out of the paint everywhere. Threads for the valve on top were super messy and the tape all over the place. Pretty disappointed in the garbage production companies put out now. Buying from a company that takes pride in their products is very hard to find. It’s all about the money.

Cosmetic damage

Came scuffed up, it's cosmetic, but definitely off putting for something you paid over $100 for

IGNIK GROWLER - perfect for any adventure

I love traveling with propane when camping and overlanding. I bought the 5LB growler because I wanted to have a refillable solution for my camp stove cooking instead of using the 1LB tanks. Plus the growler carry case made transport easy in my SUV. I use the propane growler for my camp stove, camp heater, pizza oven and my Ignik firecans.

Great small portable Propane Tank

20lb tank takes too much room in my bed but I wanted to take a smaller tank that didn't take too much space while not buying 4 gas cans for a few days camping. Trying to cut down on waste (especially when camping and having to carrying trash with you). Saw this pop up for overlanding/camping and despite the steep cost (over $120 when not on a black Friday sale!?). It had good reviews and I wanted to also go ahead and take the gamble on it. It works as it should. Nothing amazing but what is good is it holds a total of 1.2 Gallons of propane, refilling is also way cheaper than buying multiple 16 oz bottles. So camping a lot, this is actually a good investment! It comes with a cool case, essential adaptor, and very light too. Used it on my last trip over a few days and it lasted the whole time on my griddle. They do offer a bigger 10lb tank but for now, the 5lb fits my needs for cooking out in nature.

Finally a perfect size tank with an awesome case!

I have been searching for a propane tank that was bigger than the awful little green tanks that you have to throw away, but smaller than the huge 20lb tank. This size is perfect, I use it in the backyard with our Ignik heater and we also take it on the road in our van or camping trips to use with a cook stove. The carrying case is very well built and makes the whole thing super convinient too. Really happy with this purchase.

Good looking case, valve had me worried

I know there are a few reviews about valve issues, and yes, if I wouldn’t have taken it to a propane business/distributor I would probably be writing a bad review. Apparently the tanks are shipped with a vacuum seal and need to be purged before filling, this took them about 3min before they could fill it. (Would help if IGNIK would make a note of this). I’m sure it’ll work great as many of friends have them. I figured I paid $35 for the case since a new tank is $60 (got it on sale). My only gripe is the case is solid black, would prefer some sort of color-way. Anyways, looking forward to many years of cooking in the woods!

Perfect for car camping

We’re a family of 5, we tent-camp for up to 4 weeks at a time. We don’t have space in the trunk for the 20lb tank and we hate using the green canisters as they’re so wasteful. This is a great solution. It’s equivalent to 5 1lb canister (plus some as the 1lb ones are often light/under filled). I filled ours at Tractor Supply, no problem. It cost less than $5 (lowest propane sale they ever made, apparently). I like that it doesn’t clunk around in the trunk when we’re traveling light. Doesn’t take up loads of space when we’re packed to the rafters with stuff, and that it come with an adapter for all stoves/grills that otherwise use 1lb canisters. Easy.
