Very Warm

I was looking for a VERY warm coat for the coldest days. This coat IS exceptionally warm. In New England and it keeps me warm on days close to 0 F. It is bulky (as one would expect) but does not feel too heavy. Hood has nice fit and adjustment. Great pockets. My only issue (minor) is that the zipper on the men's coat zips like a female zipper and is hard to adjust to for a male.

Houdini would struggle with this zipper

The zipper is IMPOSSIBLE to operate. I don’t even care that the pull is on the left. It takes me 15 minutes of struggling to get the zipper pulls aligned so I can zip it. And getting it unzipped is just as hard—enough to induce mild panic. Too bad, as this coat is otherwise just what I expected—huge and crazy warm. I will say that even in size small, the sleeves hang over my fingertips. I wear a 32/33 sleeve. I could probably have accepted that if not for the impossible zipper. It’s baffling because it’s a sturdy-looking YKK zipper.

Super warm! Great parka for extreme cold. Bulky

This parka is warmer than anything else I own. I wear it in Montana in -30 weather with high winds on the east side of the Rockies—and I feel like I could literally lie down in the snow and take a nap outside if I wanted. I bought this because I work on call and occasionally have to wake up from my warm bed and go to work outside in this kind of weather. This parka makes it bearable. The parka is bulky and hard to move in. It’s hard to even get buckled into a vehicle because you have to wait for the down to compress. But it will keep you warm. I have not been able to test waterproofness. If you need something ridiculously warm at the expense of bulk

Warm. Duh!

You will never be cold again. This is really meant for hardcore cold situations. Took it on a trip to Canada in January and it performed well. The zipper is a little difficult to get started, but other than that it is perfect.

impenetrable fortress of warmth

This is by far the warmest coat I own. It is fantastic. I can't recommend it more strongly. It is a bulky, puffy, impenetrable fortress of warmth--so you need to know what you're buying. In Montana, I've worn this in temperatures as low as -30 Fahrenheit and have been perfectly warm. I could lay down in the snow and take a nap if I wanted. When I wear this out at about 15-25 Fahrenheit, I can actually feel myself warming up (rather than getting colder) while standing outside. If you need to stay warm at all costs, you can't do any better than this. I frequently have to leave home unpredictably during the wee morning hours in arctic cold, and this is exactly what I needed. The main downside is that it's very puffy and very bulky. It's a bit awkward to buckle up, and the coat is conspicuous when worn in public because it's so puffy. But it looks good, and it's blazing hot at crazy cold temperatures, and I love it.

Very warm for very cold days

Very warm parka for cold days. Thick and somewhat bulky but not heavy at all. LOVE the warmth but wish they would reverse the zipper (it is a European left handed pull or what we Americans call a “women’s zipper”) otherwise HIGH QUALITY, WARM, SUSTAINABILITY MADE. Far better than more $$ Canada Goose

Perfect in every way

I got this jacket for my son to wear during out vacation in Northern Scandinavia. Man, this jacket was everything we expected and then some. Firstly, it's WARM. And I mean whale watching in Tromso warm; walking around Kiruna and Abisko in -35°C warm; kinda way-too-warm for the -15 Stockholm warm. Basically, super-frigid temps were never an issue. Disclaimer: we also had quality base and midlayers. There there the weight and was LIGHT! also, very very packable- perfect as a pillow or cushion. The multitude of clever pockets and fastenings were the cherry on top. And if a teen says he'll use this item for the next 10 years because it's that great, you know you have a winner.

Warmest coat ever

Stunningly warm coat. I wear it while walking my dog (a long coat gsd who loves the cold) in the middle of the winter along the Hudson with windchills down to -19f (-28C) with only a T-shirt and I stay totally warm. I have yet to encounter any cold weather this coat cannot more than handle. It’s far too warm for temperatures above freezing, and very bulky so it doesn’t have much going for it in terms of style.

Super warm, tough—zipping up is a learning curve

For the first two hours of owning this parka, I was beyond frustrated—I could not get the zipper to close while wearing the coat. But I eventually figured out the trick: You have to pull down on the right end (without the pull tabs) while holding the two pulls (in your left hand) tightly together—then after you insert the right side into them, push the two zipper pulls down momentarily before pulling up the top one. Now that I’ve figured that out, I can tell this is exactly what I wanted—a crazy-warm coat I can throw on over a t-shirt at O-dark-30 to walk the dog in the dead of winter. This thing is packed to the gills with down and is puffy to the extreme—think Michelin Man—but that’s OK. The fabric is tough and tightly woven—almost no chance of down leakage. It feels like it could easily last 30 years. The yellow pull cords for tightening the hrm, waist and hood are a bit long but I tied a loop in each one so it doesn’t dangle. The pockets are great. This thing is gonna be too warm for all but the coldest days in DC—but on those days I’ve been cold in my patagonia Tres 3-in-1, especially around my backside—not gonna be a problem with this coat. Sizing: I’m 5 foot 9 (173cm), 158 lb with short arms (32 sleeve in dress shirts), trim stomach and wide shoulders. Size small fits well; the sleeves hang over my hands at full length, but with the sleeve cuffs snapped closed, the extra length is somehow absorbed—no problems. So I’m happy I got this coat. I’d give it five stars if the zipper wasn’t so exasperating at first. BTW per the company’s own videos it’s pronounced Fyell-rev-en.
