An Expensive Disappointment

Needed some long underwear that would last & keep me warm. I work outside in the elements & Icebreaker had not only the highest rating, but also the most expensive. In the beginning they fit great & seemed like the obvious winner. Unfortunately, had them for less than a 5 months and the crotch completely fell apart. The material just did not last at all with the work load I have on a daily basis. Would not recommend to a friend.

Great Warm Base Layer

My favorite base layers I’ve purchased. First time trying merino wool and I don’t think I will ever go back to other fabrics. These things are super comfortable and keep me warm all day long. I’ve used them skiing and winter steelhead fishing and didnt have a single issue with them. Make sure to hang dry after washing as they will shrink up in the dryer. Would definitely recommend them to anyone in need of a nice pair of warm leggings for any winter activity.

amazing except for the waistband

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Icebreaker baselayers are the best, I always get them. These are predictably great, comfy and super warm without being hot indoors. My only complaint is the waistband.... it rolled up immediately when I put these on and stayed rolled forever. I'm petite and they fit me, and this has never happened with any icebreaker leggings of mine in the past. Did they make the waistband out of a new material? Is it less wide than it used to be? Not sure, but I would really love it to be thicker/wider and stay put, because the rolled waistband gets really uncomfortable fast. I would also love to see these come in shorter lengths and XS sizing. Otherwise, they're amazing.

Warm, soft and light!

I bought these for some winter hunting/camping, and so far I'm very pleased. I've had some Merino that feel scratchy, these are smooth as silk. They held up to a 3 day hunt, logging somewhere around 25 miles in tough terrain as a base layer, and I'm well pleased with them.

Lightweight and layerable, but also warm

I gave these to my boyfriend for a gift. He works in the Northern Sahara in the winter, which is bitter cold, especially at night. He can layer these easily and reports they really help him stay warm.

Cold weather camping no problem

Used these last night camping at Chatfield Park outside Denver. Got down to nearly freezing, but legs stayed toasty. Super comfortable.

Favourite.

Bought my first pair in 2014 and they held up for years even though they were out through the wringer. Keep buying them and still the same great quality as before. I love the fit of these, tried smart wool, rei and others but the fit was never just right. These always fit perfect! I love the feeling both in active multi-day mountaineering climbs and also just chilling around camp relaxing staying warm and comfy. Back to the active part… the benefits of merino are magnificent and now only wear it for my under-layers in outings. The lack of smell is always great when sharing tents with others who have been on a trek for a few days is always magnificent. The capacity to keep you warm even on those sweaty push to the top days has me forever grateful. Did I mention the fit!! Hahaha Love these! The price is definitely worth it. Go ahead and treat yourself you won’t regret it.
