I have had this jacket for about 6 months now. It has been great lightweight jacket, however after a few washes the back of the jacket got completely ruined and the threads/material got all bunched up. Super disappointed for the price point.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Ok, so you’re reading this trying to gleam some understanding on if you should pull the trigger on this jacket. Here is the quick and dirty: buy the stuff you are going to wear all the time first, then get those speciality items to expand your base capabilities of equipment and apparel. This jacket should be the first thing you buy, the next should be a shell, then gloves, hat, thinner base layer, thicker over layer, and so on. If you don’t own this jacket buy it. It will always be your “goto” for 90% of everything you need a jacket for.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is the best jacket I have ever had. Was skeptical at first because I don’t like puffy jackets but it’s not really puffy at all. I wear this jacket every day and want to get another color. The best thing about this jacket is that it “knows” whether you’re hot or cold. When you’re cold it keeps you warm. And when you’re getting hot it starts to breathe. Seriously, I’m never uncomfortable (hot or cold) when I’m wearing this jacket. And it has held up to my abuse very well. I wear it every day and I’m not gentle on this jacket but it hasn’t started to show signs of wear after 2.5 years. Buy this jacket, you will not be disappointed!
Love Arc'teryx in general, but over the years, have come to hate, yes hate, their make believe names for colors. Just call it what it is. It's ridiculous the number of reddit threads that have arisen due to the fact no one can tell the color tone on websites, and they use terms like the name of a bird for a color. Additionally, a white lining on the collar of the "Forage" (another dumb AF name for a color) is misplaced for a coat like this, unless you never plan on doing anything active (which arcteryx is probably pandering to the lulu soccer mom contingent these days) These color way titles are faux creativity and it's just boring and irritating.
This jacket is a "Trim Fit". I have lots of Arcteryx pieces and all but 1 are size XL. I need an XL for this jacket. Large is too tight across the back and shoulders. The XL fits nicely everywhere except around the belly/waist. It is too big in that area especially for a "Trim Fit". In comparison to the Thorium AR that I have, it fits about the same but the Thorium is a roomier "Athletic Fit". The Thorium AR has an adjustable hem drawcord so that make it fit better. The Atom LT does not have this adjustment. This is not a deal breaker for me. Just be aware that this "Trim Fit" is big around the middle with no draw cord. Also be aware that the "Carbon Copy" colour is not 100% grey like the photos on the website show. The inside is a burgundy/reddish colour that can be seen anytime the jacket isn't zipped all the way to the top (see attached photos). For me that was a deal breaker so I exchanged it for the black version which is black inside and out as shown on the website. For sizing I am 6' tall, with a 33" waist, 44" chest and I weigh 190lbs. I really like the long long arm length of Arcteryx clothes but the waist size versus the rest of the dimensions is off. Climbers, back country campers and skiing are the activities that these clothes are being marketed for. The people who do these activities are in shape and tend not to have large mid-sections.
good product. it does what it says and is of great fabric quality. the best thing about Arc'teryx products is how much they stand behind them. I was expecting more insulation from this jacket. It was an option to not have to go with the 750 or 800 feathers has they are not warm when wet and this one is. Also, the color isn't has bright on the supplied jacket than it is on the website's picture. if i had known, i would have taken plain black. still love this company's products, but would have bought a different jacket if i had known (for my particular needs). not warm enough (for me) for temperatures below 0 degrees celcius.
I recently brought an Atom LT jacket in the new Timelapse colour. The colour is much more green than it looks on the website where it looks more blue so that was a disappointment that what came didn’t look like what I ordered based on the website photos. The delivery also came a day later than the UPS notification, I waited in all day only to get another email at 5pm saying it was arriving the next day :( It was also packaged in a box that was probably too small so the jacket has folds/creases that look like they won’t drop out. Not a great experience overall, although the jacket is comfortable lightweight and warm
This fits better and is better constructed than any of the competitive products out there. And it's trim but still doesn't make me look fat in XXL. Great layering system. I might not wear it all alone to do rough work in since the outer material is thin but it is also very light and breathable... I've been using it under a shell and can use it all season long... on the coldest days I add a fleece but most of the time just wear a lightweight performance top.
Started with a heavier piece of Arc gear- the Fission SV- but it became apparent that this is the main “entry” piece for most. I picked this up spring of last year, and being a mainly Patagonia person until this point, I was pleased to find the fit worked even better for my 6’3 200ish lbs athletic build. Perfect arm length, hem landed juuuust right. Plus, as someone who runs warm, this jacket works for me into the high 30s/low 40s. Really a great piece of gear. I grabbed the Binary colorway just recently to get some color variety- only had the Flux (reddish) colorway until now. With the updated model it seems my only small gripe- the loose zipper- has been fixed! Great gear
Jacket is almost perfect. Lightweight but warm. I love the water resistance ! But my biggest complaint - PLEASE FIX THUS ARCTERYX !!! : The flap that goes over the zipper on the collar needs to be slightly bigger so that it fully covers the area right below the chin. Otherwise the top of the jacket doesn’t tuck into the flap and it will scratch your chin. Makes an almost perfect jacket a bit uncomfortable when zipped up fully.
