Cool color, strange fit
I have been hunting for a functional mid layer in this orange/brown color for quite sometime. I went back and forth between this jacket and the marsupial women’s fleece. Both fit strangely, but I ended up sizing up to a medium in this fleece. For reference, I am 5’6, 160, athletic build, +1 ape index, and have broad shoulders. 36 chest, 34 waist, 37 hips. First pic is in the small (shoulders were too narrow, but length and arm size were better); second pic is in the medium (fits shoulders better, but arms baggier and length a little long). Hope this helps!

Sheds like crazy
Even after two washes it constantly sheds fuzz balls and lint that sticks to my jeans. It’s almost like having a cat sit in your lap if you’re wearing dark pants. At least it looks nice and is comfy and warm - as long as it isn’t too breezy (air blows right through it). Color: bear brown.

Great overall except one HUGE flaw

I love everything about the jacket EXCEPT the shoulders and neck. It doesn't lay flat on the neck/shoulders. It's like there's too much fabric there. The shoulders are not cut to form and therefore pulls all the material through the upper shoulders and neck up to form a lot of empty space creating a HUGE neck look. Feels extremely awkward to wear.

Patagonia continues to impress.

I have purchased and worn Patagonia for years,in fact I think my first article was a Synchilla pullover fleece in safety orange;-) that I got in 1984-85. Since then I continue to buy and wear Patagonia for many reasons such as; they are a socially and environmentally progressive company, their products are always top quality, functional, do what they are supposed to do, and fashionable. If anyone ever says, yeah but their stuff is expensive, I respond how many fleece jacket/pullovers do you have that will last 20 years or more? You can't go wrong with any item from this company. My recent purchase, the retro fleece jacket is no exception.

Weird fit and weird pockets

Even on sale this is over $100 and I don’t think you get your money’s worth. I got the dark ruby and liked the color a lot but the fleece is a little lighter than expected. The arm holes seem a little small which makes it a little too snug across the chest. At the same time it was a little too loose in the waist. Lastly the jacket is lined with a mesh material that the pockets are made of. Between the loose waist and the mesh pockets, cold air gets into the jacket and flows right through the pockets which means your hands are cold, not warm. If it wasn’t for the weird pockets, I would have kept the jacket but I’m sending it back.

First one, love it.

This is my first Patagonia product. It’s very comfy. It keeps me warm and breathable yet doesn’t let too much of the breeze through on cool breezy Long Island days. I got the light grey with dark grey trim at the wrists and waist. I really have no complaints with the exception of how the fleece begins to flatten. It refluffs itself when washed however. I love it and will likely get another.

Great fit, terrible quality

Patagonia is known for its quality, which is why their products are pricey. Don't waste your money on this one. I wore this jacket for about a week, and washed it once (did not use the dryer). The stitching on the cuff has already come apart and now the cuff has a hole that I will need to sew. What terrible quality.

Excellent mid-weight fleece jacket.

This is an excellent mid-weight fleece jacket. It replaced a favorite 20 year old Sierra Designs fleece. Probably should wash it before first use since it does leave lint on light colored shirts.

So comfortable!

So comfortable! I selected this as an oversize outer layer so I could wear multiple layers inside the jacket. When it arrived, I tried it on over 4 layers of cotton, then went outside for several hours of yard work in blustery wind. I stayed toasty warm. Plus total mobility of arms and shoulders, not bulky. Perfect!
