Excellent product! Hoka shoes are really well made and very comfortable.
Unfortunately, I am flat footed and overpronate. It is always difficult to find comfortable shoes because of the custom orthotics I have to use. I also work in the emergency department so I spend a lot of time standing on hard floors. These shoes have been a spectacular addition, they’ve literally changed how I stand, and how tired my feet and knees feel after a 12-hr shift. The support is incredible, the balance, the weight, the internal volume… I could go on but I don’t know what else to say. They’re great shoes, I love them and I am sure that somebody else with complicated feet will appreciate them too.
First of all, HOKA shoes are the most comfortable and expensive shoes I have ever worn. However, when you spend nearly $200, you would expect these shoes to last a long time. Unfortunately, i wore them for less than a year and did not even use them for running. Most of the time, i only use them on weekends. As you can see from the pictures, the lining inside the shoe near the heel is already worn out, and the sponge inside has almost gone. I have not seen this happen with $30 shoes that were worn in the same way. I am very, very disappointed.
Product was substandard. Inside of shoe fell apart within just a few months and I don’t even run in these shoes.
Poor quality - short life of soles
I've been running in Hoka's for years, and my previous shoes were the Bondi 6, which I liked and put around 800 miles on. But the Bondi 7 seemed like a completely different shoe. While it has a high stack height, it felt extremely firm, with none of that "Hoka cloud" feeling I usually get. There also didn't seem like there was enough rocker in these shoes, so I felt like I was pounding a lot more than usual. On top of that, they consistently made my feet go numb. I put about 80 miles on them and things didn't improve, so I returned them and got a pair of Cliftons instead. I love the Cliftons, they are back to that true Hoka comfort.
Very cushy, but not enough room for my bunionated feet. The Bondi 8 seems to have more room. Bondi 8, sz 8.5 4E was huge, so I should have ordered a smaller size in that model, but inadvertently ordered this Bondi 7 in a sz 8, 2E. I had already tried the Bondi 7 sz 8.5 4E, and it was too tight (so I obviously didn't need to go smaller! lol). At any rate, the Bondi 7 is a really nice shoe, but does not have enough room for large bunion on inside and Taylor's bunion on outside of my right foot. There was enough room for my left foot though. I would still recommend these shoes to someone with the right feet because Bondis are just plain wonderful.
The bottom of shoe opens rips.
REI employee recommended these for me to wear while touring Europe. Said they would be the best shoe for all the concrete/cobblestone walking I’d be doing. Said the big soft sole would feel like walking on a cloud. They were soft and the balls of my feet and heals never felt sore or tired like another shoe. But they were so soft that my feet sunk into the shoe then my toes were pressing against each other which caused major blistering. My blisters had blisters. They also made it really easy to roll your ankle. They were good on pavement but anything off pavement at all they were terrible. Had to be super careful on the cobblestone.
From so many reviews, I expected more from these sneakers. They are very cushiony, no question, however my feet hurt after just 6 hours due to the lack of support at the top and side where your actual foot is. This area is all loose mesh, so if you are someone that needs foot support not JUST cushion on the bottom, these may not work for you. At $160, I expected more.
