Park Tool  CG-2.4 Chain Cleaning System

I used to hardly ever clean my chain, and now I do it almost every month (commuting in wet and muddy conditions with a wet chain lube that attracts all the debris) because the chain scrubber makes it so incredibly easy. After I ran out of the park tools cleaning fluid I've been filling up the chamber with SimpleGreen (pretty cheap for a big jug) and it does just as well. I also spray a SimpleGreen solution on the derailleur and cassette and use the brush to scrub off the chunky bits of mud and debris, followed by a hose bath (and reapplying chain lube). After I'm done I hose out the internals of the chain scrubber. Super easy process!

The tool is fantastic, making it very easy to degrease and clean particulates from your chain. Hands down, I would absolutely buy this again; however, there are a few drawbacks. First, the brush is super-stiff and pulls off even the most stubborn grease/dirt, but the handle/teeth don't fit between the gears of my 12-speed cassette (perfect fit between the gears on my 7-speed cassette). Secondly, the bottle of cleaning fluid contains enough fluid for only about 3 cleanings (if you use the fill line on the chain scrubber). No big deal... it's going to run out eventually. All-in-all, I love the system and it makes it easier and more efficient for me to keep my drivetrain clean.

This tool's ability to clean is beyond my expectations! My Townie 5i with about 200 miles on it had a brown & black covered chain. I used this tool & fluid and followed the directions to rinse using the tool with soapy water, then wiping with a rag and blowing it with compressed air to dry. The chain now looks brand new. I added the T-9 Boeshield for lube and protection. I expected a big mess from the tool after reading reviews of similar tools. I had only one splash onto cardboard that I had set below and that was from my not keeping the tool level which allowed fluid to exit through the opening for the chain. Love this tool!!

I've used this 4 or 5 times. The chain scrubber tool is great, gets all the grime right off the chain. You just latch it on the chain, fill it with degreaser, spin the pedals for a minute, then take it out. Just like that, your chain is as clean as factory new. The brush is great for cleaning the cassette. I cut a bottle in half which I pour some degreaser into, then I dip the brush and scrub it on the cassette. The before and after is obvious, the grime stuck to the cogs only comes off of I scrub it off with this. And the degreaser is amazing. It doesn't smell bad, I actually kinda like the smell, and the included bottle lasts 4 or 5 cleanings. All the grease just melts right off. And the degreaser is biodegradable so that's great too.

This product works really well as other reviews state. However, the one I received from REI.com was definitely used because the chain scrubber was covered in black grit and grease, the packaging was falling apart, and the fluid was only half full with no factory seal.

I used this to clean the chains of 3 bikes in one session and it worked perfectly. Bike chains are really now clean and no mess. Drive-train ran much smoother on the next ride. Clean up the tool with soap and water...the brushes pop out so easy to clean. Only downside it is took 1/2 the bottle to fill the reservoir. So plan on cleaning multiple bike chains at once and buy extra cleaning fluid.

I've owned this chain cleaner for about 5 months now, and, while it does an excellent job cleaning my chain, it is already falling apart. The metal latch on the side has fallen off, as well as the bottom plastic/magnetic part. Plus, after accidentally dropping it while washing it in the sink, so maybe a 1-foot fall, a huge chunk of plastic broke off. It's apparent this was made with extremely cheap parts and will not last long.

Whether you’re a weekend warrior or daily commuter, this is an essential piece of gear for maintaining the drivetrain on your bikes. Takes me all of 2 minutes with little to no mess. Build quality is solid as expected from PT.

Works very well for cleaning drivetrains. I hadn't cleaned mine in ages and this one took most of the gunk off in 2 applications. My bike felt a ton smoother after I cleaned it. Highly recommend!

This is my second Park chain cleaner. The first gave many years of service before I lost one of the metal retaining clips. The Park chain cleaner works noticeably better than other chain cleaners I have used. The brush is very good for cleaning the rear cassette.
