Best indoor smart trainer
I bought this because I live in an apartment and needed the quietest smart trainer so my neighbors won’t hate me. I’ve used it for a year and never had a complaint from anyone. Set up was super simple and I’m frankly a little confused why some on here had trouble. I use it with Apple TV running Zwift and FulGaz. Works flawlessly and accurately. Makes training easy and reliable especially when it starts getting dark earlier and riding outside becomes more perilous. You will have to buy a new cassette as it doesn’t come with one, but just get the same one on your existing bike and switching back and forth is simple.
Cadence readings inaccurate
I have been using this trainer for a couple of days so far with Zwift and I have been noticing my cadence readings have been reading incorrect. I would be doing 70rpms then the reading would drop to 35rpms even though I still at 70rpm. I read on the Garmin forums that its a known issue with the sensor that senses your crank or foot on the left side. The fix is to attach a metal bracket to your crank arm. That is so lame for the amount I paid. Im going to maybe use a separate cadence sensor or just return it for a kickr. I do like that its quiet and you dont need a power cord to use it.
Great trainer
Really a great ride! Easy set up, road feel is really cool, very high quality, remarkably quiet totally recommend.
Amazing
I never liked the idea of riding indoors but with current events I decided to give it a try with the Neo 2T in combination with Zwift and now my wife and I are hooked. Pros: -Simple setup / easy to use -Quiet -Simulated road feel is awesome -Folds up nicely -Works without being plugged in Cons: -I had to use a thicker spacer than provided for my 9-speed cassette. I realize my gear is old and I should probably upgrade. -The end caps were loose so the free hub had side-to-side play. Not that big a deal and was easily tightened with a 5 mm Allen wrench. You should double check to make sure everything is tightened. -Lifting is awkward as there are no obvious hand holds. Love this thing!
The best indoor trainer
Very smooth and quiet. Opened up a new world of training for me - specifically Zwift, which this works with perfectly with no modifications or additional purchases (not sure why a prior reviewer said you need a dongle - you don't). No calibration is required, which is really a step ahead of other trainers. There is some setup required, namely installing a cassette. I knew nothing about how to do this, but did my research, watched setup videos specific to this trainer, and it was a breeze (though did require picking up a couple tools - bike ring lock thingy and chain whip).
cool trainer. get active
awesome unit. comes with 1 month free zwift and 1 month free tacx
Tacx NEO 2T Smart Trainer
I have had this trainer for two weeks and it is completely awesome. The trainer adjusts to the road conditions in the virtual world. If you are on a climb, you will receive pedal resistance and have to adjust your gears just like on an outdoor hill.
Good trainer, buy from Garmin directly.
I wouldn't buy a bike trainer from REI again. Turns out indoor bike trainers are considered outdoor equipment, and you can't return them after 90 days. My trainer broke after 4 months, and REI wanted nothing to do with it. I called Garmin and they saw the trainer had a pack date from 2021 i.e. it was an old unit with some known issues Garmin has fixed since then. Garmin replaced the unit at no cost to me.
Great Smart Trainer
I have had the NEO 2T Smart Trainer for over 4 years now. It is used by Cindy and myself a few times a week all year long. We only have used Zwift with the trainer and have no issues at all. I have used it with a bluetooth connection and a ANT connection to an iMac computer and Apple notebook. There have been no issues when using an Apple computer. The Zwift program ant the NEO 2T work really well together, and it is seamless. The NEO 2T will also work without power but you have to start pedaling in order to generate a power source. I have not used it this way, but it is nice to know that you can if there is no power available. I have not had to use Garmin support for anything so I don't have any opinion regarding a repair, etc. Just like the Wahoo Kickr, there might be a few bikes that may not connect very well with the NEO 2T. Wahoo has a bad bike list and I would imagine that Garmin does too. So make sure you check for a list before you buy this trainer. Overall. I highly recommend this trainer. It just works very well and is very quiet too.
5 Stars for REI, 4 for Tacx T2 Neo
I have this trainer 4 of 5 stars only because I had to exchange my first unit with another one. The first unit had issues with keeping a Bluetooth connection with either my laptop or my iPhone. The exchange unit seems to work fine after one training ride. REI was GREAT for allowing me to exchange the unit after I had it almost a month while I tried to fix the Bluetooth problems step by step.
