True to size.
I wear a size 12 in most other shoes. I found these fit true to that sizing. I ordered a 45 per the size chart and fit is good. I have used these shoes for 3-4 rides already. They perform well. My only comment is that are warmer than the shoes they replaced. The have less venting. It has not been a problem yet, and I ride in the warm, dry summer heat of Bend, OR. Overall, for the price, no regrets.

Too narrow....and the tightness at the big toe joint was going to be a problem so sent these back. Other than being too narrow...and I am not too wide...the shoe appears to be fairly well made. Laces were a bit too long and would have had to either be cut or replaced. Did not walk in them as they were too tight. Length was spot on.

Broken sole nearly ruined a backcountry ride.

These shoes fit a bit long and narrow. I like the look but a broken sole nearly ruined a backcountry ride. I was able to limp the last 200mi. of the ride after shifting my cleats all the way forward and taping part of a found shotgun shell inside to sole to alleviate some of the sharpness along the crack.

Quite possibly the worst cycling shoes ever made.

Heavy, bulky, ugly, doesn't breathe at all, strangely uncomfortable last/upper. These dollar store shoes with a cleat mount hurt my feet and toes after riding an hour and I've only used them for road riding where they proceed to bash the crank arms in ways I didn't think was possible in a bike shoe. There is no way these shoes would be comfortable off trail and absolutely no way I would have bought these if I had a chance to try them on first. The cherry on top is the use of comically long, hideous black laces for that extra danger factor. Needless ot say, I do not recommend these...things.

Good but bring back the velcro strap

I loved the previous version that was grey and yellow. I was excited when this version came out until I realized they removed the velcro strap over the top of the laces. That strap really helped give a secure fit and tuck away the laces so they didn't get into the chain.

Nice casual shoe

Fits well, looks casual doesn't stand out as a cycling shoe.

A comfortable hike-a -bike

These are great on and off the bike. I used them on the Maah Daah Hey right after I got them and they were overall comfortable. I did struggle a little with tightening them enough to prevent heel slippage without the front half of my foot going numb occasionally. I wear a 14 and had to go up to the 48 (14.5)

Need clarification about these Brontrager SSRs

Reading through all the comments, from REI customers and staff, this is my conclusion: these shoes may be a bit narrow in the toe box, but are generally wide in mid-foot, and then slightly narrow in the heel. Other buyers, please confirm: does that sum it up? If so, these are exactly what I'm looking for. (I dislike buying and having to return if it's avoidable.)
