The good: great fit, great mobility, nice color, convenient sleeve pocket. Not great: On the women's XS, neck does not cinch small enough. Getting it cinched close around my neck to keep the water out, has the tab going past the velcro. Smallest end of the neck size range needs to be a few inches smaller. Terrible: For some unknown reason, each sleeve on the underside of the forearm has two open holes. These are sewn in like button holes and clearly intentional, but they completely defeat the purpose of the wrist closure. Every wave, water simply pours into these openings and floods up the sleeves of the jacket. Every rapid, I got soaked from the sleeves on up, and ended up soaked under the jacket and freezing. I can't understand why a splash jacket, the sole purpose of which is to keep water out, would have openings in the forearms. The fabric itself is great and waterproof, but with holes in the arms and a neck that's impossible to cinch tight, it doesn't do it's only job. Very disappointed, hope they address this in future versions.
Sure, it's waterproof, but... this jacket is poorly designed. - The neck gusset doesn't go nearly tight enough. When I max out the velcro closure, the velcro tab eats my hair, and there's STILL more than enough room for water to come pouring down the neck on every wave. - I was between sizes and sized up so the sleeves would be long enough (5'6", 135lb, long-ish arms, bought a medium). The cut is very boxy (which I guess doesn't matter much under a pfd). However, because of the cut in the shoulders, there is no tension on the sleeve which makes it very difficult to operate the sleeve pocket zipper without a friend's help. These two issues make me think NRS just put a women's size label on their men's jacket and didn't design at all for different shoulder shapes and smaller necks. I'm debating returning it but I don't want to pay 2x as much for something well-designed. I guess you get what you pay for... but in this case, I would have gotten just as much functionality out of a rain coat I already owned.
Using this to keep warm doing wind sports like windsurfing and wing foiling. I fall in the water a lot and go out in very heavy wind. Keeps me soo much warmer than using just a wetsuit. Highly recommend!
