Do NOT Like New Design Miserably Small, NOT Comfy
I have been wearing the Pearl Izumi Elite Gel cycling glove for many, many years. I usually buy at least one new pair per year. I always wear a size large. I just got these and they are tiny! The redesigned opening makes it very difficult to get my hand into the glove. The narrower opening, smaller "V" slash and cheaper, smaller velcro tab as well as the weirdly constricting wrist band make these uncomfortable to say the least. While the palm padding hits exactly in the correct spots on my palm, the rest of the sizing and design is just too small. Pearl Izumi what the heck are you doing messing with a great glove? Bring back the old design.
No padding, hands hurt
I have other pearl izumi gloves that I love, and bought these to replace them when they wore out. Comparatively, these have almost no padding. My hands hurt after just 1 hour. Two hours in they hurt so bad I wound up cutting my ride short. I will not be wearing these again. You might also want to be aware that they are hot pink, it the pretty coral color the photo shows.
Nice gloves -- go up a size
The sizing of Pearl Izumi gloves seems to be slightly smaller the last 2 years, than previous years. I would advise going up a size. I by no means have large hands (my ring size is 4.5 to give you some perspective), but have found that the mediums were cutting off the circulation to my fingers. These have been much better. They added a small rubber flap at the base of the wrist to this year's design that I don't care for (not sure why? I haven't figured out a function for it), but otherwise Pearl Izumi makes functional gloves and they provide adequate padding and protection from the handlebars on long rides. One thing I particularly like about Pearl Izumi gloves are the little finger pockets that make it easier to take them off.
SO SMALL
These look great but they are SMALL. I ordered a size large after carefully measuring my hand 3 times. I can't even get my hand into the glove. Maybe my 8 year old granddaughter could.
For short rides ..
great entry level gloves...if you are a new rider, who is not going long distances, these gloves are for you. they are light weight and offer some protection; however, if you are a long distance cyclists or going on a multi-day adventure, dont expect these gloves to perform at that level. I tried using these for 56 miles out of a 400 mile multi-day cross-state ride, my hands were sore and tired. I ended up tossing these back in my pack and not using them again.
Disappointing
After several longer rides and attempting to change hand positions, I've come to realize these gloves are not comfortable in any way. I have finished rides with calloused palms where the fabric rubs no matter what position, the seam has caused blisters, and I can't ever seem to close the securing strap over my wrist. I have fairly small hands and wrists, and when comparing the measurement guide would be on the larger side of small, I got a size medium and they definitely felt like they didn't fit. Recommend trying a different glove brand.
Run Small
there is nothing wrong with the gloves, just the size run way small. My Hand Circumference is 7.5inch, I finally got size L.
Agreed: these run WAY small.
I bought these gloves in a small for my daughter-in-law who typically wears an XS to S. She couldn't even get them on past her knuckles. Wassup Pearl??
Strap Stiching Issues, Minimal Padding.
Bought as a replacement for my wife's Gel Pearl Isumi gloves...they have improved the removal hoops for taking off the glove. But if there is gel in the padded area, it is almost unnoticeable. Hands start feeling numb before a 10 mile ride is over. There is also a rough intersection of materials over your wrist when strapped on.
Loving these!
I use these while driving to protect my hands while driving. I have medical issues with my hands, and these make driving so much more comfortable. I know this use is not what they were designed for, but they really help with my hand problems,
