Rough Edges Make for an Uncomfortable Ride
The stitching around the liner leaves a raw edge exposed. Previous liners had an overcast stitch. The shorts do not stay down but ride up.
Size up!!!! Ran very small
I have a pair of Sugar shorts from last year. I am 5’9 and weigh 150. I’m a size 6, and wear a L in Pearl Izumi. However......... the new design is so so small!! I had to get an XL Size up at least 2 sizes. Otherwise I love the short length, better to get my legs tan ;)
Definitely size up
I am a size 8/29 and ordered a medium per the size chart thinking the shorts would be a little roomy since a medium is size 8-10. When they arrived I couldn’t even get them on. I exchanged them for a large (size 12) which are still more snug than I like, but they fit. Make sure to size up at least one size if not two. I also wish the pocket was a little bigger but it’s enough for a card or key. Overall they’re a cute pair of shorts and will be great for hotter days but the size is grossly inaccurate.
Great shorts
I've been purchasing these biking shorts for six years, and they're my favorites over different brands that I've tried. It's hard to find biking shorts that are actually SHORT, i.e. ones that don't go down to the tops of your knees. I've put these shorts through many a century and long climbs in the mountains. I've always been confused by reviews that recommend to size up multiple sizes for these, for most bicycling clothing is designed to be flush with your skin and not baggy to be aerodynamic/what have you. For reference, I'm 5ft 4in, 125 lbs, and a small fits great.
Best bike short around
Best bike shorts around! I have 3 pairs of these shorts. They are comfortable, the chamois pad is not too thick, they don’t make your legs look like sausages, and they last a long time! I have had one pair for 3 years now and they are still going strong.
Not a worthwhile purchase
I had a previous version of these shorts that I adored and wore through which is why I bought this pair, but I am not thrilled with them. The sizing is way off- I'm 5'3", 130#, average build and the medium in these is way too small. I could barely pull them on properly! The waistband and the leg bands roll up as well which is very uncomfortable and irritating. I will be returning these and a pair of Pearl Izumi bibs I purchased and will be trying a new brand for my cycling shorts, something has changed with their bottoms.
Okay
I wanted to love these shorts! They’re so cute, but didn’t quite fit the bill. I wasn’t sure about the short style because I can’t run in short spandex, but I decided to give them a shot. The inner thigh part rides up on me so that they’re just an inch or 2 below my pantyline, and causes a sort of pinching sensation right there where the material bunches up. Other than that I liked them a lot, nice mid rise, cute, and decent chamois. Will have to keep wearing longer ones though. For sizing, I am 5’4” and 130# and 27in waist. Usually a small but sized up to medium and they’re comfortable.
Stylish and functional
Other reviewers are correct that these run quite small, so I ended up sizing up. After doing so, I'm extremely happy with them. The slightly shorter length makes them much more stylish than the average bike shorts, but I've taken a couple moderately length rides as well as bike commuting in them daily and I think they're still sufficiently long enough to be effective. I've also tested carrying my keys in the mesh pocket and I feel confident that it's secure there. The pocket is a bit smaller than I thought--you can't fit a phone in it, but it's still great for my keys which never feel secure in my jersey pocket.
Good for a novice!
I'm new to cycling and after a few rides without padded shorts, I did a little research and decided on these ones. They do the job! I got size large based on the measurement specs...I normally fit mediums. They fit well, I like the seam on the leg - keeps them from riding up! look good enough on, even though I feel as if im wearing a soggy diaper. I can also wear them under a pair of yoga leggings which is great And I accidentally dried them after my first wear, and they fit a teeny bit snugger but still fit nicely. Would recommend, but as many raters have suggested size up a bit. And the pad doesn't come out, which I feel would be a cool feature for cleanliness...!
Comfy, great for beginners
Great shorts! I'm 5' 9", athletic build. I carry my weight in my lower stomach and prefer a high rise short for that reason. These hit me below the belly button, but are not the highest rise bike short I own. That's the only slight con. Everything else about them is super comfy. I appreciate the grips on the inside of the thighs to keep them in place, as well as the comfy chamois. I'm new to the padded short life and these are awesome. I'll likely be getting another pair soon! While I like the length overall, there were moments I wished they were ~ 1 inch longer because I'm so tall, but given everything else that felt like a small complaint and something I can easily find in another pair by this same brand.
