ALL DAY FUN!! The NRS Ninja is not restrictive, which allows me to feel comfortable and confident on the water. The storage compartment unzips fully, allowing me to store everything I need for a day on the river.
I'm... 5'2, 34B, 130lbs but currently 155 (gah telework year!) I've always hated how life vests seem designed for 5'10" people! Strap adjustments always awkwardly placed, my neck was always buried by extra torso life preserver length. These straps are placed in easy to know which-is-which locations. There is a top pouch where you can tuck in the over-shoulder strap extra length. I can move super well in this. My cat looked at me as if I'd gone aluminum foil hat nuts. Only flaw: The inner zipper in the front pouch got stuck on the inside key clip and ribbon, twice in a row. So I cut it out. There are several secure spots inside the pouch you could quickly clip your keys to.
I ordered this for my kayaking day trips and multiple day excursions. Used it for a day trip and I'm quite impressed. As someone who has had a hard time finding a comfortable life vest, this is by far the best one I've tried. I am able to have full movement and it isn't an issue with the back of the kayak seat. The pocket on the front is smaller than expected but I am able to put my Samsung S10+ with an Otterbox. keys and a whistle in the pocket. There are other little compartments in the pocket. Love the area for me to place my hands in the warming pockets. I did wear gloves which helped keep my hands warm. I liked the yellow since it made me more visible to other boaters. Plus it matches my kayak.
I purchased the Ninja online, it has good reviews and seemed open on the sides so as to not interfere with paddling my kayak. upon receiving, it is much more bulky in the front than I had expected, but the deal breaker was the shoulder straps. A minimal amount of movement and they would start rubbing against the sides of my neck. That got really uncomfortable very quickly. I returned it and bought an Astral V-Eight - MUCH more comfortable and less bulky.
As a woman with a large bust and short torso, finding a PFD that fits has been a struggle. I wasn't expecting much from a unisex PFD, but this fits like a dream. My chest doesn't feel squished since the bulk of the PFD is around the waist. Unlike other PFDs, I don't feel like it's going to slip over my head during a rescue. It fits my short torso, allowing me to sit in my kayak comfortably. As a bonus, my arms never rub when paddling. Highly recommend.
This Life Jacket is aimed at white water kayakers but I use it for canoeing. I like the completely unrestricted movement you have with it. It's quite comfortable. It has one large pocket on the front that is big enough for a phone and has a clip for keys. Not a ton of storage, but should be adequate for most people. Not ideal for fishing. The flotation pad on the back is fairly thick, so it's something to think about if you will be using it in a Kayak or other boat that has a back support.
The Ninja is the ultimate pfd for paddlers looking for a low-profile, lightweight vest that doesn't restrict your range of motion. I love this PFD for freestyle kayaking! The hand warmers are a life saver when warming up your hands between surfs, and the clam shell pocket has just enough space to fit your essentials, without being bulky and in your way. Comfortable to wear and looks great!
I bought this to replace a Stohlquist Edge which had a wide but flat front pocket and zipper opening which I didn't like. Likes - The Ninja has wider arm openings allowing for greater freedom of movement and the clamshell pocket with interior organiser is perfect for my needs as I can fit my face mask, protein bar, etc into it. I put my phone in a waterproof pouch and camera into the handwarmer openings on sides of the PFD. Dislikes - Although the sewn in (vs sewn on) lash tab is nice, it's difficult to remove any attachments like a rescue knife once attached and the reflective material in the slots are effectively blocked off. I would have also liked to have a couple of small D rings and reflective tabs or trimming on the shoulder straps. I'm 1.7m/5ft7in tall, 55kg and slim built and the Small size fits me well.
I love to do a lot of different activities (SUP, kayak, canoe etc) so I wanted one PFD that fit for them all. This PFD has such a large area of movement in the arms, it was perfect! Plus it comes in some great colors! Great fit, very durable & great price.. what's not to love?!
Finally got the canoe out to Lake Marburg today. Spent a couple of hours paddling, wearing the Ninja the whole time (other PFDs I've had were only worn when sketchy weather/water conditions dictated their use). Supremely comfortable, hardly noticed I was wearing it. Gold standard.
