This is a solid harness for climbers of all levels. The harness incorporates a simple design that is comfortable, adjustable, lightweight and functional. I logged 45 hours at the climbing gym prior to the pandemic then moved outdoors for 2 routine climbs and 1 technical climb. The performance was excellent out of the box in all scenarios. Like most climbers I added a couple additions to the harness based on climbing routes and conditions. With my other harnesses nearing the end of their careers this will be my new go-to harness. After putting it through several climbs I have every confidence in the safety, comfort and versatility of this harness.
This is a good package deal for all the essentials needed to get started gym climbing. The price is very good as well. The individual components aren't the best in their category, but this is as expected for an entry level package: -Harness = light, sufficient padding, a little large and bulky for my body type (small), adjustable leg straps are a plus. -Carabiner = Nice and huge. Because it's so big, might be a little bulky and heavier than desired for some people. Simple, works well. -Piu 2.0 belay device = made for skinny ropes so a little too much friction when belaying with thick gym ropes. I really like this belay device, but I also have a skinny rope. Nice rapelling, good friction.
Awesome package that should give you everything you need to start climbing. The harness is great, lightweight, unconstructive and comfortable for hours - but I've never been able to use the belay device. I learned upon first attempted use that my gym requires belay devices with assisted braking. So if you're just starting out in the gym like I was when I bought this, check to see if your gym has any rules like mine did, and if they do I'd recommend just getting the stand-alone harness, a karabiner and something like a Mammut Smart 2.0 - that's what I got, and honestly I'm really glad I did, it's fantastic.
As I was getting ready for a week-long trip to Red Rock Canyon in Las Vegas, NV, I noticed that my old harness was looking a bit worn and my belay device/carabiner was pretty grooved out. So I went to my local REI and picked up this package before setting off. Whether sitting for hours at hang-belays on the amazing long routes, or catching whippers at the sport crags (and hang-dogging); I never even noticed the harness was there. It may be one of the more comfortable harnesses I've worn. The gear loops were good for a standard double rack of cams, and the haul loop was great for the tag-line. The inclusion of the auto-block belay device was perfect as well. I only needed one belay device for our entire trip, which was nice as we were checking bags for our flight and needed to trim weight. I used it in the auto-block mode for bringing up my second, as a rappel device, and for lead belaying as well. Regardless of the mode, the movement of rope through it was always pretty smooth. For a climber like myself who enjoys all roped disciplines, this kit was ideal. Its versatility, comfort, and affordability make it a great choice for any climber at any level. I give it my highest recommendation.
Have used this several times on single pitch sport routes, and I love it. Also have several Black Diamond basic harnesses, but find those difficult to get off. The CAMP harness is quick on and off. Comfortable and ready to go. Solid construction. Biner and belay device are fine, not much different than the ATC Guide. Biner action is smooth. Definitely recommend the harness.
Overall, I really like this harness package. I think this would be a great starter package for anyone climbing in the gym or heading outside. Pros: -Lightweight -Comfortable -Wide-mouth Carabiner -Mesh Bag to hold all of it Cons: -Thin padding: probably only a concern for big falls/long pitches. -Slim-fit: not really a con, but just a caution if you're ordering online. I'd definitely recommend this product. I would advise trying it on in person before ordering though as it seems to be sized differently to the other harnesses I've owned(slim-fit).
I have used this harness 9 months outdoors every weekend/ chance i get and its standing to the test. when new it was slightly rigid but broken in i can wear it all day with no discomfort
While I've been unable to really put this harness through its paces (we're staying home, staying safe), I can say that after the few times I was able to climb with it I was impressed. The harness is really light and the wide back helps distribute weight such that it doesn't dig in anywhere (same for the leg loops). The belay loop is thinner as well making it easy to clip in and out. The gear loops offer ample space to clip gear ... it seems more like a gym/sport/crag harness than for long trad days. The carabiner and atc do the job well although it isn't obvious when the carabiner is in the unlocked position (like those that have red paint exposed). It is nice that the atc can be used in guide mode, and I like the orientation of the rear loop. Overall seems like a great (intro) package.
I use this a few times a week for the last few months! Can't beat this combo for the price and it is perfect for me as a beginner climber. No complaints at all. I'm sure there are things that could be improved, but if you are looking for a combination of gear to get you started and even beyond that, you shouldn't pass this up
Great all around gym harness. Lighter and more comfortable and maneuverable than the entry level Petzl harnesses. Climb 2+ hours in the gym and almost forget you're wearing it.
