Works as ski socks!
I’ve been skiing for 20+ years and I’ve struggled so much to find a sock that works for me. Traditional brands are ok, however 2 hours in and my calves are cramping. I’ve learned that the protective padding on traditional ski socks is what causes this cramping. I bought these socks on a whim and HOLY WHAT. They have single handedly outperformed all of my ski socks. And not for nothing but I have some hefty ex soccer player calves and these socks FIT to my knee. No other brand has ever done that. 10/10
compression socks
fit well enough. though stated to be "wide calf" they fit the same as their regular socks. and the wide calf only comes in moderate compression. they aren't available in high compression socks (a Sockwell issue, not REI issue). Happy that REI carries them as it's easier to buy them there than on the Sockwell website. Only issue is that when shopping for them on the REI website, it stated they were available in the store. But when I went to buy them, they weren't available and I had to order them online anyway.
For walking without swelling up
I'm not a hiker anymore am a new heart patient. Per request from my Cardiologist recommendation got two pair of these to try them out. Got home and put on a pair and noticed right off the bat I could feel the difference as soon as I put them on compared to the stockings I had (threw them out). So far this gal is giving them two thumbs up was able to do a 2 mile walk in the pouring down rain without having my feet and legs bug me like they had. If all works out I'll be buying more of them.
Good but not great
I wear women's shoes size 8.5 wide, and my calves are around 17". I bought M/L wide calf socks. The fit was great along the calves (snug but not too tight) and a bit tight at the very top stitching, right below the knee. Foot was too long by about 1-2 inches, but I was hesitant to buy a smaller size as I was afraid the calf would be smaller and therefore more tight. I used the socks for a 14.5 hr flight followed by a 5 hr one. My feet swelled some but were significantly better than when I don't use compression socks. On the return flights my legs still swelled a lot, but the shocker was when I discovered that I had gotten a blood clot in one leg. On all the flights I made sure to move my feet a lot (both in place and walking up and down the isles), as well as stretching. For someone that is otherwise healthy, not overweight and in my early 40s I was thoroughly shocked. I will be looking for a different brand of socks with a better fit, and springing for business class tickets for long flights.
Pony calves rejoice!
These socks feel like a nice hug for your legs. Since they are my first compression socks, I have nothing else for reference, but these are light to mid-weight feel, and I love them for mtb use. My calves have a 19” circumference and these fit fine without print distortion. My first ride was in 70 degree weather and these felt just right.
Perfect fit
I had previously purchased several pair of compression sox that were horrid to put on and to wear. These socks are easy to put on and comfortable to wear. I have large calves. They do their job and do not cut off my circulation!
Awesome Socks!
These socks do an amazing job of reducing the swelling in my ankles and legs. Wish I had tried them sooner. No more tired feet at the end of the day. I love wool socks, and these are the best brand of wool compression socks (I have tried several). Comfy, no binding... I'm ordering more because they are simply awesome.
Not the quality I was expecting
I loved the compression socks however I wore them one time with my muck boots and the heel started pilling. I was very disappointed, I got these socks just to wear with my muck boots, I have Walmart socks that do not pill in my boots.
Excellent compression, Easy on, Effective
Excellent Compression Socks. They don't create any discomfort, and do a perfect job of keeping swelling down in my legs and feet. I wore them for a 19-hour travel day, with 4 flights, along with a one hour drive. Got to my destination with no swelling, and my legs and feet were not tired. I love these, and am coming back for more!
Great for everything! A must for wide calves
I love wearing these socks for road trips and air travel, when I know I’m going to be sitting for extended periods of time. They’re also great for days with lots of walking, like amusement parks, hikes, and tours. I have small feet (women’s 5.5) and big calves (16.5”) and they fit great! So comfortable! They keep my legs and feet feeling refreshed all day. The wool is a big plus too; it keeps the socks from getting moist or stinky even after wearing them for hours. Will definitely be buying in more colors and styles!
